The old Lounge was incredible. Absolutely incredible. It truly was an organism all it's own. Now......it's just The Grove.

I might do a social experiment sometime where I show up to a game wearing the other teams stuff and then go to the lounge wearing MSU stuff and see what happens.
Good idea. My wife and I walk through the lounge every weekend, and not a single person has ever spoken to us since the stadium was built.
In reality, i think there are only a handful who are obsessed with catering to the opponent's fans. The vast majority just seem annoyed that ANY other fans are near their space.

Yeah but they're not exactly a shining example of getting return on investment.

No they want to show you that you're a have not and they're a have. At least some of them do. Some of them are genuinely good folks. There's a lot of nice people out in the Lounge. The problem is that a select few, and it's mostly those rigs on the first level in right center, think they run the damn lounge and you have to bow to them and tell them how cool they are because they grilled some sausage or one time they talked to Will Clark.

They don't have too. They have two boosters that can buy us over three times. They don't care.

Correct. Most look at you like you have I Am Satan tattooed on your forehead if you get within 10 ft of their box. Which honestly, I prefer better than let's open our box up to anyone with opposing colors on. They just hate everyone.

A loud large crowd can affect games at times but let's face it, games are won on the field, not in the stands.

They have one that's a member of the Saudi Royal family. He could buy our entire state 3 times over.

Correct. And I'm not an outfield person.
But our fans treated others the same way in 2021 as they did in 2022, and we won a NC and then were last.
There is a toughness component missing from our team, but that has nothing to do with our outfield fans.

We don't have assholes anymore. We don't have guys that walk around thinking they're better than everyone. They don't step on the field thinking, and letting the other team know, that they're better than them. Hujsak was that type of player last year. Jurrangelo and Stephen were those types of players too. We have ZERO of those types of players this year.

Oh I'd wager folks are vocal about how they should be seeing better performance in their programs for the money they're spending.

They're folks are all saying they were held hostage by a few players and they gave in to them instead of going out and hiring a sitting P4 HC, which they could've done. Especially coming off a runner up performance in Omaha. I don't think Early will be there past this season. Seems like they are ready to move on from him.

Oh I'm sure it stings them hard. They've spent a 17 ton of money on everything and it's not paying off. Yet.

Don't move the goalpost on me. They will cut bait and can afford to whenever they deem it time, but when it come to facilities they are a bottomless pit of cash. If you had any idea what they spent on that huge area out side the football stadium it would blow your mind. And that doesn't include the upkeep which is just nuts.

These are the same people that fully funded the Kyle Field renovation in 2 months after they beat Bama. That renovation cost 485 million. Just let that sink in. Our baseball stadium cost 60 million and we won't fully pay it off for like 7 years because we had to borrow money to do it.

If you walk around as a State fan no one will say anything to you unless you're too close to their rig, but if you're an opposing fan you can't go 10 ft without being offered food, beer, probably their wife if you asked, etc. It's insane.
And BTW, this isn't sour grapes. I have a spot in the outfield. So this isn't a have or have nots thing like the guy that I was arguing with yesterday said it was. And everyone would know him because he thinks he's a big deal.
LOL. I think that would have been a funny video to put on social media.

The responses would be, "You took food and beer meant for visitors", "Go to your own spot. We've got real [insert opposing team] fans to feed", etc.

Like now it's a bunch of 50+ guys that are just really really weird. I think the national championship made it worse because they started treating these players like gods and so now the players expect that.
First of all let me say that the foster family that Polk put into place was and is a great thing. Especially for players from out of state.
But I do suspect that the roots of the behavior of the weird fans probably started with that program. Because whether you have a rig or not in the LFL knowing players is a status thing in Starkville. Having a rig AND knowing players? Mega Status in Starkville. We have plenty of fans like Maroon Mary that do the same things with players as far as being involved or over involved with MSU athletes.
The overall success of the baseball program only caused the roots to grow.

Which shows you how much he knows about baseball.
He'll tell you he knows more than you though.
