You know I always thought it was crazy that people were so sad we were redoing the stadium, but maybe they saw what I didn't see at the time. Maybe they saw the old ways dying a slow painful death.
That Clemson Super Regional was one of the best. The students did their research on the right fielder, and had intel on his GF, and a large blow up photo of him at a party dressed as a woman.
When we won that one, dang we even had someone riding a tall tricylce onto the field. We had fun.

And complaining about showing hospitality to visiting fans and teams is a stupid take. We used to feed regional teams in the 80s so nothing has changed there.
Have 8 FB season tickets in Section 4 which are not cheap and it took about 57 consecutive years of giving to the Bulldog Club and buying these tickets to get there, (was actually noved a few times in successful years during Jackie because lifetime giving meant nothing and a new donor that year could bump you). Surrounded by similar fans in our situation. When someone sells their tickets to the opponents fans, the State fans in the section are not happy and we sure don't feed them or greet them warmly. Guess football is different than baseball.

Wasn't there something about a player and a banana? The entire program has went soft.

The good ole days right there. That was fun to be there. Even though we lost, the Arizona Super was an incredible atmosphere. We were piled on to our trailer and there wasn't room for one more person. And we loved it. Gave the LF hell for two games. And I don't seem to recall many AZ fans wandering around the outfield with plates of food. Every time I've been the last three years, I'll see as many opposing team fans walking around with plates of food and beer as I saw in 5 years in the old stadium. Every time I looked up this weekend there was a TX fan with a plate of food and a beer.

Only at State can a damn bus driver and those LFL assholes turned into stars. We focus more on them than damn NIL deals. They love that attention, but they're attention whores. Country Pleasin' sausage isn't good either but they pump out those guys in their promos on social media. That whole damn area should be about the students but you've got shit bags trying to act like they own it all. Make those SOBs pay huge ass money if they're so damn big and important. If they think they're big shots, pay like big shots.

They're also really weird. Not Everett but some of the others. Like they know a little too much about the personal lives of guys on the team. Like hang out with them and their girlfriends, get drunk with them at the bars, take them out to dinner......it's strange.

These damn "Baseball Boosters" are a huge part of the problem. They are way too involved in way to much of it, and you're right its just creepy.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, are you saying the whole outfield terrace should be for the students?
You guys are bitching about the best tradition we have at MSU. It's kind of unreal.

sounds like an exclusive social club now

No. Would just like it to be a little bit more friendly to MSU folks than the opposing team. Our team already makes them feel right at home, I guess we'd just prefer not to expand it to the fanbase too.

If we have a horrible baseball season(again), and baseball revenue falls, will the university be able to fund our football program this fall?*** We still have a beautiful $60 million dollar baseball stadium with a 4 star restaurant in left field to feed opposing fans and their players.***
Cant use our stadium as an excuse any more after this year. TAMU is going to drop 80 million to redo Bluebell Park (which is already a 4-Star stadium) starting this year. They will become the premier stadium in the SEC and the nation after it's finished,

I don't get that part of it either.
That kind of thing didn't even happen to Albert Pujols in St Louis.
I think it's gotta be the small town thing. "We ain't used to someone famous being around here."
Everett is just a loudmouth asshole. Unless you are a MSU athlete. Then he worships you.

And I don't know if it's so much that they are mean to MSU fans as much as they absolutely go out of their way to be nice to visiting fans.
I might do a social experiment sometime where I show up to a game wearing the other teams stuff and then go to the lounge wearing MSU stuff and see what happens.

Todd I've done it. No lie. Did it on Sunday night of the 2021 Regional. Went and got a Campbell shirt from the merch stand for like $15 and was treated like I had a winning lottery ticket. I had the same notion that you do and it's 100% true. If you walk around as a State fan no one will say anything to you unless you're too close to their rig, but if you're an opposing fan you can't go 10 ft without being offered food, beer, probably their wife if you asked, etc. It's insane.
And BTW, this isn't sour grapes. I have a spot in the outfield. So this isn't a have or have nots thing like the guy that I was arguing with yesterday said it was. And everyone would know him because he thinks he's a big deal.

It never used to be like this. I mean there were FAMILIES that lived in Starkville that would "adopt" players. But all that ever meant was that they might bring them groceries here and there during the season and might invite them over for dinner once or twice a month. It wasn't to the extent that it is now. Like now it's a bunch of 50+ guys that are just really really weird. I think the national championship made it worse because they started treating these players like gods and so now the players expect that.

Maybe admit that they don't need to trip over themselves and push Mississippi State fans out of the way so they can be the first person to give a Texas fan a 12 oz filet and a case of Michelob.
I can't really pinpoint when the going out of our way so we could get noticed on Twitter crap started but I think it was around the 2019 postseason when the CMU baseball team came out to the outfield and then the Supers that year when David Esquer's wife wrote that article talking about how nice our fans were. It seems like ever since then we've had fans that try to fall all over themselves to see who can get noticed on Twitter for being the nicest person. I won't call them out by name, but you can get on Twitter and easily figure out who I'm talking about. And it's not just Everett and Silva. There's another big one that I got into an argument with yesterday about it. I told him it looked silly as shit that we were feeding the other team and their fans after they beat us. You can't make them see it though at this point. They're too far down the rabbit hole of trying to see who's going to mention them in a tweet.
This is a terrible take. It is the best form of promotion that our school has now. Period. You are always running down Starkville and what a craphole it is and now you want us to run off the thing that outsiders like the most about our sports and university. Do you not think it affects players? Do you not think that kids and parents of players look at this as an opportunity? All these small schools with portal quality players that come here - a good staff would be using it as a way to make sure those kids want to come play here the following season. You and I both live in Texas - do you know how well they think of us now? They actually want to go to Starkville now. They want to spend money there. And that only helps with recruiting here. Baseball circles are small and people talk. Heck this morning - the main podcaster for Texas baseball was praising everything about Starkville - said he would say the same if we swept them. He's promoting our school. Texas baseball kids know about state because of that atmosphere. That's why we get so many recruits from here. Just a terrible take all the way around.

They think that we're poor ole Mississippi State. They took our food and whipped our ass. And they think they're going to do it in every sport. They don't give a flying 17 about us. And no I actually don't run down Starkville. I love it. That's why I have a 17 condo there. I think I'm pretty gd committed. Don't really know about you but there's a few on this board that understand how committed I am to this university. I want it to be the best in everything. I also know that handing out sausages and Miller Lite's to opposing fans doesn't matter. Winning is all that matters. I could less give a 17 whether they spend their money here or in Austin. If that means we scare off some opposing fans from their 3rd plate of smoked sausage then so damn be it. Our programs needs some assholes back in it like Tanner Allen, Jake Mangum, Ethan Small, Konnor Pilkington, Brent Rooker, Nate Lowe, Hunter Renfroe, Adam Frazier, etc. We're soft and it's now extended to the fanbase. Also....how the hell is the best form of promotion of our school promoting they came in swept us and ate like kings while they were doing it?

Our tradition is no more it's a bastardized version of what it once was. It is now sterile version of a tradition that was once uniquely ours and is now attainable by anyone.

Oddly enough, in 2018 at Vandy, I met Everett and said see you in Omaha. He was like yeah whatever. Dude didn't think we were beating Vandy.

Walked around out there for 20 years and never got offered food. Probably wearing the wrong color of Maroon.
