Bo Bounds Dropping Some Moorhead Era Rumors

Bo just decides to throw out there today that supposedly Manny Diaz, Brett Bilema and Jon Sumrall were all interested in the HC job in 2018.

He was talking about DCs being head coaches and MSU going the OC route since Mullen. Then he decides to drop that on air.

Jon Sumrall was a linebackers coach in 2018 with no head coaching expiereince at all. Why would Bo think any SEC school would consider him as a HC candiate at that point?

Although not enough data at the time for Sumrall, Moorhead was not a HC , well other than Furman.
Manny and Bert would have easily taken that team to a better season .

I can see Manny and certainly Bert as real candidates. But acting like skipping on Jon Sumrall, a 35 year old position coach with no head coaching experience at all, is just crazy talk. Don't get me wrong, we've made some dumb decisions but I can't blame anyone who might have passed on that resume at the time.

That's why "winning the press conference" is so overrated and probably part of the reason we went in the completely opposite direction with the Leach hire.

Not saying Cohen was a good AD and made good choices but with great D returning and hiring the OC coach of the year with Fitz returning, that at the time felt like a great move.
