They said he did good compared to historical norms. I mean Dan McCarney went 56-85 there. Campbell, who most would consider a HELL of a coach, is 57-48. Iowa St is a damn tough job. It's in the middle of nowhere Iowa. And we think recruiting to Starkville is hard.

I'm just telling you what people who actually supported the program during that time were saying. That's all. I generally try to not look at solely records when judging that stuff. I think Rhoads will be a good addition to the staff and hopefully that will get Turner off the field.

Johnny Majors had a losing record and 1 winning season at Iowa St...Pitt hired him from ISU and he was a pretty good coach for Pitt and Tenn

Yea I really wasn't trying to turn this into a HC debate. Just passing along info that was told to me by some big time Iowa St guys.
