They’re doing a really good job in the portal, but that’s not new.

They are. I still like where we're at with Smith. Hutzler has recruited him relentless for the past 10 days and our offer is no small potatoes either. It's a really good offer and he sees a chance to contribute immediately. But.....it's Auburn. And the money Jimmy Rane is throwing around this cycle is exponential. I mean we all laughed at the rumor that they offered Arnold 2.5 million, myself included. But now it seems more reality that was the offer. So could they make an offer that is too good to turn down? Yes. Do I think they will? No. I think it'll be a good offer, but I still think we will have the better offer and more attractive situation.

No it is new. They did a terrible job last year and under Harsin they were worse. Hugh is Rane's guy and he knows if they don't go 9-3 or better WITH A WIN OVER BAMA then Hugh is fired. And that means Rane doesn't get a say in the next hire. It will be another booster group because that's how they do it over there.

The LB room is the strongest we've got. Now Hutz has to get our edge guy and find us some DL and CB because the rest of that staff is floundering. I do think we get the edge and our NG soon.

I think we start to see the DL and DB rooms take shape within the next 48-72 hours. Still pretty confident we are getting 3 more commits before Sunday. Was actually not expecting this one until next week.

Becoming apparent why he wasn’t let go after the season.

Recruiting was never going to be a problem with Coleman. He just had to get the talent here. All our defensive rooms are better today than they were on November 30th.

It’ll be fun to see what happens with this talent. Good players make great coaches.

We still need 2 more WRs, 2 more OLs, AT LEAST 2 more DT, another EDGE, and another CB. We are off to a hell of a start, but we can't rest on being the 5th ranked portal class on December 19th.

really good work on getting Smith in. We've got guys with talent there - just need to produce.

An underrated plus to the recent defensive recruiting. When you add talent like Derion Gullette and Jalen Smith, this means guys like Nic Mitchell will be essentially special teams only guys. Nic played his ass off this year, but he's just not good enough to start. He should be a good depth piece and a strong special teamer. Same goes at safety, where we aren't relying on guys like Hunter Washington to start any longer. Hunter can now throw his body around on special teams, and you don't have to worry about him turning and running with a WR.

Well and now you don't have guys like Brylan Lanier playing out of position. Or having to move a guy like Brandon Jennings all over the place.

I hear you man but we 100% lost the ASU and Florida games due to scheme. I'll chalk those up to being a new DC for now. Those performances can never happen again.
"We will have no problem in handling Kentucky."-Turfdawg67. MSU suffered a 27-17 defeat in 2022 with 225 yards in total offense.

ASU was scheme. I won't put Florida completely on scheme. We had some schematic breakdowns, but we got no pressure on the QB that game. I know everyone remembers that game from the video of the play where we had no one over the RG and RT but that was one play. It didn't decide the game.

We've signed two edge guys. NIU guy & NC State guy are edges rushers

ASU wasn't really a scheme loss. The defense gave up 23 offensive points in that game. If we don't fumble and let them scoop and score, we probably win that game. Now, I know some look at the rushing numbers from that game and cry bloody murder, but the fact remains all that running production produced just 23 points.

Lanier going to corner will be big. He came on as the year progressed
