We pay half what the teams in this conference pay for good coaches so we can continue to hire all these first time sorry ass coaches. We get big donations for NIL and can't get players to even take the over payment because of these Great Value coaching staffs. The only damn fools that can't see we continue through this cycle every time are the ones running the show and making the hires. They poor ole Stated this football program to hell and flipped the boosters and fans/supporters the finger. When do we force these SOBs out? We need people here that care and want to get things done and encourage us all to be involved instead of this standoffish BS while they build their retirement. We were willing to pay Dan Mullen his asking price but since then it's been cheap assed losers and penny pinching.

I would think that those accepting the program is the bottom of the barrel and poor ol State have the small frame of reference and a limited understanding of what State football can be. Truth is we are plopped in the middle of fertile football recruit territory. We can somehow have a highly respected baseball program that routinely signs top 10 classes and has won NC and SEC champs, a above average basket ball program with success throughout it?s history but it JUST CANT be done with football because poor OL State. Nope. That?s some small brain, limited thinking. The truth is that if the administration was cleaned out (really cleaned out) of the dead weight and we focused our funds and really greenlit a long term marketing and recruiting strategy out football program could replicate the success our baseball program has had.

Whittingham had a little interest when Mullen was working to leave. He was in his late 50's then and was thinking of doing what Leach did- see if he can win in the SEC before he retires. But we never pursued it and went with JoVester. After JoVester- Whittingham had decided to finish his career at Utah barring some incredible op

Malzahn turned UPig down to stay at UCF. He damn sure wasnt considering us. He's not leaving the state of Fla it appears. He and that level 5 crazy he is married to love it there.
Petrino wanted our job and made it known. We hired Lebby instead.
Fleck is not leaving Minnesota to coach at State. He is looking for a bigger job

That is the point of all this. We have to hire a guy like Fleck before he blows up and hope it works out. We wont get that guy after. We have instead gone the coordinator route because it worked with Mullen. JoVester was a bust and Lebby has at least 2 more years to show it was the correct call.

Yall act like Oxford and auburn are great places. They have built it up because of football but aren't anything special, especially Oxford. Yet they get recruits and compete. It's just like dawgology stated, you can't say how well we do with recruiting in basketball and baseball and say no one wants to come here with football. Just pay to get good coaches and staff and people will want to come. You just have to pay them, sometimes more.
Like many have said, it's hard to bring guys to a team that won 2 games and lost badly at home to Toledo and kept the same staff.

Money is obviously the deciding factor in a business or a University. But from an entertainment perspective wouldn't you rather enjoy wins than leaving games in the third quarter? I'm not advocating leaving the SEC and it won't happen unless we get kicked out someday. But I'm guessing Arizona St is having a whole lot more fun than we are right now.
