I wonder if it occurs to some of you that some players just have zero interest in coming to State.

It does but then people would have to admit that unless you grew up a State fan, went to State, or are currently a student at State; Starkville is not exactly a desirable place for the average 18-21 year old. Moreso for athletes.

NIL didn't cost us the players that flipped today. We didn't get out bid, just out recruited.

The truth is if we even go 5-7 and show promise we probably get Cunningham, Lockhart, and etc.

The Toledo game killed our chances with Cunningham. That was his OV and we sucked that night. Plain and simple. The Lockhart thing will remain a mystery til someone talks.

I do not think the Lockhart thing is hard to figure out. His brother and buddy didnt sniff the field while we went 2-10; The bears almost made the playoffs and Im sure made a big nil offer.

I do not understand how we missed on Cunningham. Our NIL offer should have been obscene.

They took at least a couple of more players that were leans to us at one point in time too- Dunn and Cortez Thomas. Probably for the same reason. No one wants to play for a dumpster fire.

Yep, the whole defensive staff sucks but the day Lebby hired Hutzler was maybe the worst day MSU football has seen recently. There was a reason our staff couldn't pull defensive portal players last year and there is a reason that we had multiple de-commitments from HS defensive recruits this year and that reason is a DC that no players have any faith in.

It just takes a handful of kids who don’t care about where they are and just want to buy a Hellcat. There’s truth in what you’re saying. There’s truth in the fact that some kids just don’t care where they are and will go to the highest bidder.

The issue is the ones who want to come to state, who have friends/family at state, and whose parents want them to go to state b/c we are afraid to commit to paying and recruiting players. We are afraid to commit to a professional, modern production in game day, etc. this can be directly attributed to gold bricking personnel that litter the athletic department. Big changes are needed.
