Rivals, 247 and MaxPreps disagree with you. They have Prep ranked 2nd only behind Brandon. Last time I checked they look at talent

Off year for Oak Grove and others to cherry pick from. Come on up and play Tupelo, Starkville, Louisville etc. I?ve heard this forever. Never changes.

Yes I believe Prep,Hartfield and MRA would beat all the teams you just listed almost every time. I am public school guy, but you have to give credit where it is due and you can no longer stand on the argument that private schools don’t have the athletes that public schools do. That is a very outdated way of thinking.

Just a bad take plain and simple.
Weird. Took you for a private school guy like myself. Again like I said, just my opinion. I have watched Prep and was just not impressed. More impressed with Hartfield between the two. Heath built them a good team. I just think depth will take over most of the time with private vs public matchups. Prep and Hartfield have bigger rosters than most private schools but eventually those lineman get tired of trying to tackle and missing an athlete like Kamario Taylor

Regardless of whatever misconceptions of some, this has been a great game. Tons of talent on both sides of the ball. Number 2 for Hartfield might even be the best athlete on the field tonight. He is not even one of the headliners.

And Magnolia Heights never ranked above 8th in the state in baseball last year and I know for a fact Magnolia would have beat the hell out of any team in the state last year. So apparently they only look at talent in certain situations.

That’s not cherry picking that was the outcome of a game this year. Only ones to choose from.

What is the score? Have not seen anything today. Watched Parklane drop a 70 burger on Leake yesterday. Looked like our defense trying to stop teams.

I am indeed not Steve Robertson. I shower regularly, do not wear a damn top hat, and do not think John Cohen was a great AD.

Well I guess that would be the 2nd time your assumptions are incorrect tonight. McComb High graduate here. Can’t get more “public” than that considering the State took over the school. Haha.

Braylon Womack #2 is a top 20 prospect in the country for 2026 and rated a 98 on 247 with offers from every blue blood I the country, he?s a stud. Everything else I agree with you.

But you said ANY 6A or 7A teams. Oak Grove qualifies as any 6A or 7A team.

7 to 7 at halftime. Both lines are doing a great job against the rush but the depth might be more of a problem for Hatfield because majority of their guys are playing Ironman football. Tremendous athletes though. I believe the JA network is live-streaming it. If Prep’s QB was a few inches taller you would know his name more recruiting wise. He has a great and accurate arm. Both teams Kickers will be Power 4 guys as well.

Their QB is accurate with the ball. I think someone at the G5 level will take a flier on him. He is smart with the ball on top of being accurate c

Youre on crack if you think that. And if you seriously do then anything you say going forward about sports just got taken down several notches on being credible in my book.

Ive got family and friends that coach at D1 schools and they completely disagree with your take based on recruiting players in this state

I have plenty of friends that recruit in this state as well and they all say the same thing. The top end talent in the private schools have gotten 100x better in the last 15 years, but overall they still have more guys starting at their schools that would not make the team at the bigger public schools in the state. Again, what Hubert Davis has built at MRA is incredible, but I do not think they could hang with a Tupelo, Starkville, etc. What Doug Goodwin has done st Prep to revitalize them is really impressive, but I do not think they could hang with Brandon.

You have changed from them being run off the field by Choctaw Central to not hanging with Tupelo and Brandon. That is two different discussions.

Sorry you are right. I should have stuck with my original teams. I was trying to call out the Jackson private schools for how they have brought up talent.I got caught up in different conversations. I do still think Choctaw Central would run away from those teams and to me it would come down to depth and they have no one who can guard Cunningham. Like I said, I think the top end talent at those schools is the same and against a team like Choctaw I would probably give the nod to a Hartfield, but I think depth would win out. Also, man I would love to see Davis’ offense turned loose with Kamario Taylor at QB. They would be hell on wheels.

Choctaw Central went 6-4 this year

Sorry. I meant County and not Central. My bad on that one.
