Was he the DC at aTm??? I ask this because no staff in the country did less with more than that entire Jimbo staff. They had as much talent as Bama and Georgia and went 8-4 or worse consistently.

Kane Wommack does not like MSU. It goes all the way back to when his Dad was DC at OM.

I'm really surprised no one reached out to Geoff b/c he was showing a lot of interest in the job in interviews and social media.

But, experience counts. An experienced DC with a decent track record and we might be 3-5 right now.
I think we'd be 4-4 right now with an experienced DC. I think we beat ASU, Toledo, and one of the home conference games we've had.

I just don't see that as even remotely possible with the talent level we have. Coaching hasn't cost us three wins.

Geoff was showing interest in any job. People are going to have to give Lebby time. He came in and had to start putting a staff together as soon as he could since the early signing period was two weeks away and the portal was open. He went with who he knew and who he was familiar with. We struck out on some candidates too(Joe Jon Finley, Randy Clements, Durkin, etc.). Lebby now has had almost a year to get his feet under him and go find some better quality assts. I would expect Clements will be here next fall.

It definitely cost us ASU and Toledo. You could make an argument on the others but coaching cost us those two for sure.

I think our talent level was exposed in those games much more than any perceived coaching deficiencies.

I think it was more exposed against SEC teams. Had we just committed to stopping Skattebo, we beat ASU. I still don't know what the heck we were trying to do against Toledo, but there were holes you could drive a mack truck through and receivers running wide open.

I don't, we may have one or two more but that's it. The lack of talent right now is the factor that is unavoidable, there are just not many SEC football players out there.

We would’ve beaten ASU. We barely lost to them and that included a 60 yard pass called back and a scoop and score we gave up. I don’t know that anyone on this board could have schemed a more inept game against ASU than Hutz did

I don't believe we have lesser talent than Toledo. With a DC we should be 4-5 heading into the TN with an outside shot of getting 5 wins (Mizz is not nearly as good as their ranking). However, if we don't do something about this defense UMASS could be a problem for us.

UCF just fired their DC in his first year. Wish we'd have the guts to do the same.

It's funny how MSU fans obsess over a mediocre candidate. Enough with the Durkin talk. There are 10 other guys just as good or better we could get.

    You don't give a "placeholder" a 3 year contract.

I actually agree with this. Our safeties aren't great tacklers anyway so no idea why we don't play our best cover guys in the secondary. Tired of seeing slow safeties one on one with WRs.

Regardless of what scheme we choose to run, we don't have the current talent to run any scheme effectively at this point.

We should never punt, onside kick when we score. That is the only way.

....and play man and bring the kitchen sink every play on D. If it's a run play, maybe one of our blitzers accidentally hits a run gap.

I like your style. play 2 DL, 7 LBs (speed and mean as junkyard dogs) and 2 DBs.
