Why cant you have a specialty left tackle that?s 6?3 250
And quick?
Comes in on obvious passing situations.

Because the defense would then kick their interior guys to the edge when they see that player come in. No risk of being stopped if the guy is 250 they would just bull rush directly into him to the QBs lap every time

Are you thinking there are a lot of guys that size that could block SEC defensive ends or something?

Yes - pass block. I do.
And I know the bull rush argument I get that.
But what are the sizes of elite DEs? I?m guessing 270 ish.
So the tackle will give up 20 pounds or maybe you have a 270 lb tackle and they are the same size.
This is a fighting FIRE with FIRE argument.
I know it?s a novel idea.

That's high school size. There's no way a tackle that size could block DL in the SEC.

I'm not an OL, but aside from the bullrush, I'm guessing shorter arms would be a challenge too. If you look at really good OTs, it looks like they use their length to their advantage. I'm guessing footwork is way more important, but it still seems like being able to extend out and keep DL off of them and also use them to help get in position on an outside rush is important.
-
Why couldn?t you put him in the running back position on goal line offense. Ol? Miss does this every now and then with Pegues.
-
The same reason you cant have a 5.0 flat guy running TB.
OT's are more about footwork than anything. Some big guys have it- others dont. It's the reason you see bigger TE's convert to OT but it only works well once they get to about 290 or so.

Plus, the DE is running at the OL while the OL is backing up. You get two guys 260 doing that, the one running at the other will always win.

What was Anthony Munoz playing weight?
I?m guessing 6?5 275

6'6/280. You could do that in the 80's back when they smoked cigarettes at halftime and such.
