    NIL Pessimism unwarranted

I'd like to try and make an argument that we are in the ballgame from an NIL perspective. A lot here are negative on NIL and I agree in a lot of ways. I just think you try to win, no matter the rules.

Below someone sepculated on what is being spent by successful teams this year. If the top teams now are spening in the $12M range and we are $8m...we are $4m off.

    To make it up...
    6000 people X $40 per month = $2.9M

That would put us at $11M essentially. That is more than competitive. We could grow from there.

$$ then would not be our problem.

The growth of recurrring payments should be a constant effort.

Food prices are up 20-30%. Normal people are running up credit card debt just to buy beef and eggs. But let's ask them to pay an extra $40 a month so our university can pay 17-22 year old mercenaries to play football. Why didn't anyone else come up with that brilliant solution? Genius, you are.

Why are you such an ass? If you can?t do $40 do $20. If you can?t do $20 do $10. If you can?t do anything, promote it or stfu and dont discourage others. Freaking loser mentality is so annoying

    Look...

I'm not saying everyone has to give. At differferent times, people can or cant. No shame.

I'm jsut saying if you call a lot of people, a good number will be able and willing. If people can't they cant. If they wont, they wont. No big deal. Call someone else.

I don't kow why people get so mad about this. I'm actually in agreement that the NCAA or the school should pay, but that's not the current rule.

I'm trying to find a way, we can move as ants, so everyone doesnt have to give much, but a little from a lot of people adds up to a lot.

Those same folks are buying $7 cups of coffee every morning and door dashing food at 2 x 3 times the listed price.

Give up one cup of Starbucks per week.

Aren’t we top 5 fattest state in the union? Maybe we’re over spending on food. The point is, 40 bucks isn’t that much. It’s honestly not even enough to take 4 people to a movie on. It’s not enough to take a girl on a nice date on. If you’ve got to choose what to do with 40 bucks as if it’s life or death…keep the 40 bucks. It’s really not rocket science. If you can afford it and want to, then give. If you can afford it and don’t want to, don’t. But all sports are like this now. Basketball and baseball too. If you want any of them to be decent, we must pony up the money. I’m not a fan of NIL or the way it’s structured. But if we don’t play ball now, there won’t be a time to play ball later.

Maybe, just maybe, the vast majority of State fans just don’t give as much of a crap about NIL and winning than some of you.

If you do great, if you don’t great. But I am not giving something that I enjoy such as a $7 cup of coffee so that we can get a “better player”. I will keep my money and you do you, however quit preaching to others about how we need to give more…. And if we have a different opinion of what matters calling someone with a loser mentality is not going to fix anything. Quit shoving NIL down people’s throats, you are pushing fans away. NIL has pushed me away and I know for fact I am not alone. State is not nor will never be a top 20 team in NIL because frankly State fans don’t care as a whole and the product on the field is not helping.

Is it not simpler for you to just skip the NIL threads then and let the people who do care try to further the cause? You literally get the benefit by doing nothing that way.

Starts a thread "I'd like to try and make an arguement"

Then ask people who are arguing with you to skip the thread.

    Awesome.

That?s where I?m at. Time to take the top 40 or so programs and make them a NFL minor league (which will 100% flop) and get back to student athletes playing ball. No scholarships, no benefits, voluntary. Time to start back from square one.

ETA: truthfully, I?d happily donate $100 a month to NIL if this administration had shown at any point in the last 2 years that they know what?s going on and how to hire/market/etc in the NIL era. But they have not so it would clearly be a complete waste of money

If we are gonna get back to the innocence players not getting paid , can the colleges forego the 100 trillion dollars they are making o. tv. Contracts?

    Or is that still ok?

Since you're struggling with reading comprehension. Someone else starts a thread "I'd like to try and make an argument that we are in the ballgame from an NIL perspective."

Then people "maybe majority of state fans dont give a crap about NIL and winning". Okay if that is your approach and you don't care about winning then skip the thread and let those who do try to help. seems pretty simple.

This is a fair way to look at it after the shitshow cohen left us with. I do think Selmon gets this right in the next 9 months. Jans has shown he can utilize NIL effectively and I think Lebby will as well after a full offseason to evaluate and flip the roster. Idk what Lemon is doing, I think he just can't recruit even with money.

Then don't support Mississippi State. Dan and Greg ridded almost all the losers out of the fan base and administration when they came in. Maybe Lebby and Selmon can get rid of the rest. I don't give a crap if you don't support NIL. You have made it inherently clear on multiple occasions that not only do you not support, but you think people who do are idiots. If you are not alone, then great. That's more seats and opportunities for fans who want to be part of the solution and not the problem. This isn't going away. PERIOD. It never will. This system will always be here in some sort of fashion. So my advice, go find another sport. Because NIL is everywhere and in every college sport. From high school all the way to P5.

I'm sick and damn tired of people saying why they won't give. No one gives a flying 17 why you won't give. But stop promoting why you won't give. If you're not going to be part of the solution, then please don't add to the problem.
