Prove me wrong
Good coaches don't go 2-10 or 1-11 their first year no matter what situation they took over. This team won 5 games last year with the worst offense I've seen since Croom yet we are about to go winless in the SEC and got blown out against a MAC team at home. Lebby is a fraud just like I knew Moorhead was a fraud after 10 minutes into the UK game his first year

MSU will never be relevant in football ever again.

Frank Beamer won 2 his first year at Virginia Tech and Bear won 1 game his first year at Texas A & M. Both had already been HC before those stops.

Pretty long time ago for each. Not even sure any examples are relevant bc the transfer age changed everything

In the BIG 12 you could probably drastically improve after that. In this league I can't see it now. Players arent around long enough to improve, and there's no team continuity. It's a losing formula, except for the blue bloods who can get all the top transfers.

Lebby's here for three years at the minimum. So you might want to get used to him being here. He ain't getting fired anytime soon.

And I agree with giving him 3 years, even if I know it won't work out.

True, we cannot afford to move any sooner, this staff has to be given every opportunity to make it. We are a tough enough sale like it is. I know that most won’t like to hear that or even wrap their minds around it but this is a fact.

You're probably right, but we should have hired someone like Petrino (imo) who knows how to coach.

There are Hall of Fame coaches from a sooner time. Barry Alvarez, Lou Holtz at USC Zero wins, Mack Brown his first 2 years at UNC, Bill Synder at KState. Many others in history. I don't recall any qualifications added to the original post about time period or anything.

Petrino was always going back to Arkansas. He had no desire to come here. Now, Barry Odom, like him or not, was campaigning hard for the job.

Of course he is and if anyone thinks he won't be they are clueless as to how this business works. And you are right, three is the very bare minimum. He will have to match this year's woeful incompetence for the next two seasons to get shown the door in three years. But I don't care one way or the other anymore.

Not with the talent on this team. Lebby gets 3 years to develop a roster to meet his offense. And we have to develop because we cannot get into bidding wars with the bigger boys so we need to take care of our own and its going to take time. Now the defense will be a different matter and you have to home grow them boys. Castoffs from a MAC school will not do here. Everybody talks about Kiffen but he found magic in Dart and has had him there for3 years as well as the Oline. And Dart is that entire team. He is their Dak and Nicky Fitz rolled into one.

There weren't any qualifications by OP. I'm just saying no example really means anything to me bc now it's a free for all every offseason.

Selmon hired his buddy that had never been a head coach but the media said that Lebby was a “up and coming offense genius”! Have I not heard that about another one of our head coaches that did not work out?

Outside of hiring Nick Satan, who are we gonna bring in that’s gonna fill the stands at this point? They are all full of the same rah rah hot air on the media tour.

Regardless who hired him, you can’t fire a guy after year one AFTER you fired a guy after year one…. Lebby will grow into a HC, unfortunately we are his growing pains… You will never bring in a for real candidate for a coach if they know that is our coaching history. Suck it up and let the young guys play for their own marketing for next year and beyond.
