This is the problem. The offense doesn't actually look bad for the first year in a total rebuild. The DL is trash. But the complete lack of tackling ability is a giant red flag. Some people don't get that some "good" coaches are great with top talent, talent that comes to campus already knowing the fundamentals, has good work ethic etc....but they have no idea how to coach raw kids with no desire.
The defensive scheme didn't even seem that bad, for the first few drives that I saw at least. Time after time they were where they needed to be to get a stop and get off the field....and then blew a tackle. Their fundamentals are absolute garbage.
