NIL - Is our NIL team doing this? If not, why not?

Part of "fixing" this is increasing NIL. Is our NIL team calling fans, trying to set up monthly contributions from EVERYONE?

    IF NOT, WHY NOT?

We need to pay monthly, like we do for Netflix or whatever.

If you think about it, State sports is som4ething you watch all year and has a HUGE part in how happy you are.

    * You pay $20 per month for netflix.
    * Why are you so agaisnt paying $20 per month for State.

Don't dream up reasons to not do it. Think about how important State's ahtletic success is to your happiness.

    15,000 fans
    $20 per month

    $3.6 M per year

Our NIL folks should set up and being calling FANS constantly. This should be their business.

and before everyone talks about how corrupt it is, I AGREE.

The NCAA has tricked fans into paying NIL. I agree.

But it doesnt matter. This is the game. Play or quit.

The thing I have heard from people is that they want something tangible in return. So with Netflix, Hulu, ESPN+, or name the subscription service you have something you are given. A lot of our people don't want something for nothing. And I can promise you our NIL people are looking at ways to give people something in return.

That may be right, but why not set up students to call everyone and ask for them to sign up?

Some people will want something, some ( like me) will understand they are getting a better team (hopefully).

There is nothing lost from doing it and they need to build a recurring base. This should be the main thing they do, in my opinion. Their job is to buiild the recurring base. The other stuff is gravy.

$100/month gets you season tickets and nice seats to your sport of choice (just one). You also get a concession voucher and 50% all State athletic apparel at select locations.

This could be called Cowbell level.

$150/month (gotta keep it close so people think about jumping up a level) gets the above except slightly better seats and 75% off State athletic apparel plus premium parking at a designated area.

This could be called Bully level.

    Just some thoughts.

You'd have to coordinate that with the athletic dept and right now you can't do that. Tennessee can do what they are doing because they are charging a fee on top of tickets and parking that money in a fund to pay for athletes when it becomes legal for the University to do it.

You're on the right track with the donations getting you something. I think the best thing is $100/month gets you access to watch a preseason scrimmage in football. Maybe $250/month gets you Gridiron Club Passes for a game. Maybe $1000/month gets you use of a suite for a game. That way the Initiative would be the one's having those things but could give them to the customer. You can kind of skirt by the University involvement.

$25K/month and we'll let you call a play. Literally not kidding. If someone wanted to give the BI 25K a month I bet we could arrange for them to call a play.

I think this is the disconnect I have. I enjoy state sports, but in absolutely zero way is my actual happiness tied into it. We are a perennial cellar dweller outside of baseball and sometimes basketball. I would be the most depressed human on earth if my actual happiness was tied into MSU sports results. y'all need to touch grass once in a while because the rest of us ain't funding this NIL scam. Better find some other hobbies, my friend.

I get it, I have a lot of happiness outside of Stat sports. But i have a lot of happiness outside of Netflix too.

    I'm just making a point.

I'd also say going to a State game is more "touching grass" than Netflix is.

Part of the problem is no one really gets anything for their NIL contribution. Like I posted above, if I can pay $150/month and get something pretty damn good in return I'm in like Flint. And I'm not the only one either.

Hell, when the university is able to work with VISA or Master Card to have a NIL credit card that gives 10% of your purchase back to NIL, I'm there too.

I think the "happiness tied to State sports" may have sent the wrong message.

How about: "Think about how much enjoyment you get from State sports".

That is obivoous. We are all here talking about it all the time. We obiovusly enjoy it.

I wish our fans would understand the something tangible you get in return is better players and more enjoyment out of something they already are going to invest time in anyway.

This is what the BDC did back in the 90s for you to be able to get your seat that you had for 10 years or some families decades/

    I like where you're going.

I also wish we'd do the 10% "talent fee" on season tickets like TN is doing. I'd pay $462 instead of $420 for my season ticket if that extra $42 is going to acquire better talent.

Losing doesn't ruin my day anymore like it use to. I'm blessed and have so much.
But I want to win. So $75 a month isn't going to break me.
I pay more than that for YouTubetv because i enjoy it, not because my happiness is tied to it.
