And this is exactly why I want to see how Barbay does at UH. I think he had a lot of undeserved criticism. I liked his App State offense.
Barbay had lost some of his play calling duties at App State before he came to us. That offense was Shawn Clark's more than anything. Before that Barbay was under McElwain who was a play caller at Central Michigan.
And now at Houston they have Shawn Bell as their QB coach who will have a lot of say in the offense. They have Barbay as the OC and TE coach LOL. A big reason why they brought Barbay in is because of his ties to the Houston area.
The guy is mediocre at best and no one respects him enough to let him run an offense completely on his own. If anything he gets more credit than he deserves for having a title while someone else is running the show.

Cmon Todd. Ga Tech's OC coaches TE's. Why? So he can focus more on the total offense as opposed to coaching another position requiring full-time attention at practice

It's not a good look for a guy that had been coaching QB's the past few years.
He's not going to have to focus on the entire offense anyway with Bell there.

No they obviously don’t intentionally take G5 players, but they have plenty on their roster every year because they misevaluate. Washington’s coach couldn’t even figure out who the best quarterback on his roster was until halfway through the year last year at Arizona. Washington is going to struggle to get bowl eligible this year. They have a multitude of G5 players on that roster. So do we and every other mediocre p4 team.

We have had a lot of orgasms over the past 4 years as we went a whopping 10-15 in SEC play under his offensive prowess. How dare we want better. We should shut up, donate money (that he took), and go enjoy feeding the other team’s baseball players.

You put the best staff you can together and then work out the rest. Barbay is the OC for a reason. We'll see how it goes
