We likely won't know if the offense will be "decent to good" until the 4th game (UF). We should put up good numbers against our first three opponents, but none will offer much competition.

So to summarize:
They are going to be intentional in their relentless effort, straining forth, playing with hair on fire, aggressive, passionate about the game of football, playing to win on every play!
Does that about sum it up or did I leave anything out?

Wow, I just assumed he left off the sarcasteriks. Have trouble believing anyone really thinks we are going to win 9 to 10 games this season.

It's year one of a rebuild. My expectations are low,,excitement high, and I feel like we can win 6 if we stay healthy.

I placed $100 on over 4 wins at ameristar. 4-8 incoming

I will say that it seems to me at least at Mississippi State it's a lot easier to "fix" the defense so I have no problem trying to establish the offense first and focus on offense first.
It worked for Lane at Ole Miss and let's be honest- it worked for Dan when he first got here too.

After reading the first few posts of this thread, I was sure that "most" on here would not need sarcasterisks (***) following my post you responded to. Like saying our 3 star and No-Stars would be 4 and 5 stars if Georgia or Bama had signed them should have been a clue.
But seriously, I would definitely take a 5-7 APR awarded Bowl trip the Birmingham this year after the crap show we witnessed last year. And even then, I believe State just missed an APR selection.

We're gonna look a lot like Ole Miss on D the last couple years. LBs will have to make a ton of tackles. DL will be very porous.

The defense beat the offense pretty handily in the scrimmage Saturday. I don’t know if that means that the offense isn’t any good or the defense is better than we thought.

Probably a little bit of both. It's a brand new system with brand new personnel on the offensive side (defensive side too, but that's never as big of an adjustment). I think what we'll see is a slow (or slower than we want) start, but the offense will improve as the season progresses. Hopefully the defense is not as bad as some have been saying/thinking. We'll find out soon enough.

Jake Wimberly had some good insight on his show last week. He said most of the portal guys on defense started or had starts on their previous teams and have experience playing D1 level college football defense. They aren't a bunch of true freshman virgins. It really will come down to coaching and picking up the scheme.

From what I read on the other board, most of that was late in the scrimmage when it was back-ups against back-ups.

State has been playing like they are rebuilding almost every year since the 40's.

We better take the ball when we win the coin toss according to all of the reports by ED intell. How about just watch the games, and let’s see where the chips fall. I’m excited, bc we have a coaching staff that recruits hard and now we get to see how well they coach and make adjustments both weekly and in-game. It’s also nice to hear that our offense looks pretty good. Normally we get the “defense is good and our offense is going to be the challenge” in fall workouts. 6-6 would be a really good start for this regime, plus it will help bolster recruiting. New approach….be positive until you have a real reason to be upset, discouraged, or pissed off! Hail State
