True or False- Chris Jones
Did Chris Jones ever commit to Ole Miss?
Also- bonus question. Were Jake Thomas and Ashton Shumpert the secret recruits that were at Ole Miss during the Nkemdiche recruiting party?

Chris silently committed to OM. We got word of it and Mike Dunlap took care of it.

He told them that to keep them off his back. He was never going to Oxford (outside to see a female they fed him during his recruitment).

Well then I guess he told us that he was committed so he could get a little bit more coin....which it worked.

There was definitely some games being played, but he was allegedly going to State the whole time. I believe he got caught messing around on his girlfriend or something and was trying to keep things hush hush in Oxford for a while. Everybody freaked out, but people close to him knew what was going on.
I remember getting ripped to shreds on 247 when I said he was a bigger commit than Kmediche and was a better player. "He's only a 2 star." "Why did we take a 2-star this early?" It was pretty funny. Everyone that saw him at camp was foaming at the mouth for the kid, but the sites had him as a 2-star so no fans wanted him. That all changed pretty quickly and the bidding war ensued.
Now... Kmediche vs Chris Jones... who wins?

The job Mullen and Hev did keeping him hidden his entire senior year needs to be a damn book one day. Hell they almost convinced him to not play in any All Star games too. But once he showed out at the Miss/Al game and then the UA AA game, it was on. The price went up 10x from where it had been just two months earlier.
It really is a miracle we hung on to him. We weren't the highest bidder, but it's the most we ever paid for a recruit.

The 90's and 2000's recruiting wars between OM and State should be Netflix mini-series.

Jerious Norwood, Channing Ward, CJ Johnson, Chris Jones, Willie Gay, and many more. That Netflix series would be 100x bigger than Last Chance U.

I don't know if he committed. However, he was 1000% considering them heavily. It's one of the reasons his commitment announcement was moved up. Boosters and the team had to strike quick. Had they allowed Jones to commit that afternoon and Ole Miss get one more chance to speak with him he was gone. I worked with his mom during his recruitment and this is what I was told.

OM was still speaking with him until about 5 minutes before the announcement.

So what are you saying? I said one more chance . Which is the reason they moved his commitment up.

That whole 2013 recruiting season deserves a 30 for 30.

With a 30 for 30 short on the 2016 Great Message Board Meltdown - that was a wild one
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Lol....Ah, memories.
I remember that day I responded (albeit with a bit of snark) to a C34 post, only to find myself banned with a DM reading "STFU"....was clearly a rough day for influence peddlers.
Shout out to Msstate7 and Politicalhack for helping me get out of purgatory that day!

What was the 2016 message board meltdown??
Also, if there is a 30 for 30, the Nix brothers, or at least one of them, should have their own segment in it for all the stunts pulled.

Recruiting melt-down on signing day. If I remember correctly, OM flipped several of our peeps, not to mention pulling AJ Brown out of SHS, which folks were especially salty about.
We did get Jeff, though.
