Well we're bringing him in to compete for a starting spot. I think if you had asked me last year about Stephen I probably would've said he'd be a midweek guy that would be a bullpen guy on the weekends but spot start for us. So shows what I know

Is he official yet or no? If so, great and his last name while being butchered by our fans, at least DOES end in a "s", so that will help.

ETA: DAMN!!! Didn't realize his FB had ticked up 7 mph in a year. Up to 95 now. If he can control that, and we get him to campus, he could be a piece next year.
Consistently 92/93, three pitch guy. Not worried about the draft much with him unless something changes in AZ.

No just been heavily rumored and there's not much smoke with any other team.

I realize this is the Portal Thread but we just got a commitment from a HS stud out of Georgia, Charlie Foster.

Charlie Foster. LHP pitcher who commands 3 pitches and throws hard. Very, very nice pickup for us. Parker loves the kids

I have crossed fingers, but we're close to getting this done. Hearing we're real close.

Yeah I don't want to jinx it. Would be huge for us. Slowly but surely, Lemon and staff are rebuilding this team and 2025 could be a good year. Need some more pieces but we're getting there.

We still need another starting caliber arm, 1B, OF(possibly 2), and 3-4 more bullpen arms. However, we are on some really good names right now. Need to start closing on 1 or 2 to build some buzz. The USC Upstate pickup is bigger than some casuals are giving Lemonis credit for. That kid is good.

Yep right there with ya on all this. I been looking at video of that kid and I love his swing. Extremely short and powerful.

The casuals will never get over the fact that Lemons didn't sign Skenes or Montgomery and there's nothing he can do to change their minds. Hell, now many of them are not even giving him any credit for the natty. It's all due to Henderson, Cannizaro and Cohens. Good lord some MSU fans are full on stupid.

I must be pretty damn stupid. Henderson doesn?t have anything to do with but Cannizzaro and Cohen maybe. All I know is that I haven?t seen a Mangum, Allen, or a Rowdy type player or personality that Lemonis brought in

Yeager, Ledbetter, Jordan, Hines, Cjintje, Stephen, Mershon, and I could go on. You're letting these players being on bad teams overshadow that these kids were great baseball players. Almost all the players I just mentioned have been or will be drafted higher than any of the 3 players you mentioned.

Who's the Skenes/Montgomery of the portal this year? Let's go get that guy.

Unless one jumps in after the CWS, there isn't one. You may could make a case for the Kash kid from TTU or the Root kid at ECU, but neither of them move the needle like Skenes or Montgomery.

all of those are tier underneath Mangum, Allen and Rowdy. I?m not talking professional and there is none are guaranteed to get in the bigs. I?m talking about what they did in college and for Mississippi State. We have fans that will argue for statues for Mangum, Allen and Rowdy. None of those guys that you mentioned will be in a discussion. They are good players in college sure Loo might be one of the most athletic player that State has ever had but let?s don?t put them in the same tier as Mangum and Allen for sure.

There isn't a guy like that this year but even if there was, we wouldnt be getting him. We can land solid players, but we lose the dog fight with the big boys
