I don't know. This year seems like a bare minimum for a season to me. Being a 2 seed and getting bounced from a regional should be the floor. I would be on the high side and say host 4-6 times a decade.

Starting SS for Clemson is a solid kid. 336 hitter in the ACC and was 282 at Davidson

We've been thru this for a couple of seasons now. The only hope that I have for a bona fide difference maker is a pitcher that wants to play for Parker and even then, I will be pleasantly surprised. Lemonis nor Starkville seem to be as attractive as the other SEC schools. Maybe NIL is an issue.

It's Starkville. We have done a crappy job marketing the town until VERY recently and so we are still climbing out of the dark ages. It also hurts that we are bringing these kids onto campus during the summer where there are no students on campus. When all these kids see are old people when they go out to eat for their dinners, it kind of hurts perception.

Other fanbases compare StarkVegas to Iraq and Afghanistan. If you don’t think that puts us at a disadvantage in recruiting- you aren’t being realistic
Then add to it bringing in recruits during the summer when most of the students are gone.
But yeah- it’s all Lemon

This is going to happen soon IMO

Starkville is great for kids that want a college town atmosphere. The ones that want a metro scene aren't coming without a huge pay check and they can get that somewhere else. It's why we have to develop more than some schools and can't just depend on the portal. Having a shitty two seasons after a natty reallllllly hurt us. Nobody has confidence in this staff outside Parker.

I'm going to back up on my opinion of Frei, after getting some more info and talking to a couple people, it's a better pick up that I gave credit. I still think there's an adjustment period for him but he has the potential to make that adjustment based on what I was told. So I'll give Lemonis some credit on him.

agree with this completely
and to add- its going to cost us more to get a certain kid than it would LSU, Georgia, and other really good college towns

I think people see the school and completely write the kid off. Sometimes all these G5 kids need is a chance. Look at Seaver King from Wake Forest, he came from Wingate(which is D2) and hit .308 at Wake with 16 HRs and 64 RBIs. Frei is at least coming from D1.

Yep. A lot of G5 kids were overlooked in HS but can play. Maybe they were under developed physically, maybe they couldn't afford to be on the top notch showcase team and all the trips to ATL or wherever to be seen.

It's a crap shoot with unproven G players, but at least there's a little more to look at than HS kids. UNA literally played two P5 games. That's pretty awful.

It is until you realize that East Carolina, regional host East Carolina, only played 7 P5 in the regular season.

lol You must talk to the same people I talk to. I know we have several mutual friends. It's why I was excited about the pickup because I've heard he has a pretty good upside(from people who know way more than me).

This is true, but these kids transfer and have success every year at different programs. You have to evaluate and be very judicious in who you pickup and there will be misses for sure.

There are so many very solid baseball players out there but they are not just sitting on the street corner waiting on a coach to snap them up. It definitely takes a lot of work, study and evaluation as Cc24 said. It's not like football and basketball where the blue chippers are pretty much known by everybody for the most part. Guys can hone their skills almost by themselves or with minimal participation from others. Just gotta go hunting to locate and identify them.

Have you been to BR recently? Everyone is leaving. Not sure about Athens. Oxford is pretty close to Starkville and they get people. The people that hate on Starkville but like Oxford, a good question is have you ever been and when. A lot never have and those that have haven't been recently the majority of the time. These recruits likely haven't heard much about Starkville other than the atmosphere on gameday. I just don't but what you're selling. Like mentioned above, if they want a big city, they attenuation coming here. If it's for baseball we've always had a chance. Now your take on money I agree with. The lsu, Florida are going to out big us and with their recent success they will likely win the head to head or discount. But saying someone from Cali or Indiana has heard that Starkville is a dump is a little much

People may be leaving- but BR is a damn fun place for a 20 year old
But too many of our fans think its just about baseball and our awesome stadium. So much more goes into these decisions. And as mentioned- coming to visit StarkVegas on say Wednesday June 8th is not the town at its best.
