You want to be strong up the middle. C, 2nd, SS, CF and of course P. This season we were not strong at C and 2nd. At this point, we have zero up the middle.

It feels
Like we are a good bit away from A&M
Talent. At least offensively. Probably all around.

They lose Montgomery and Laviolette I think after this year.
IMO there is a very good chance they see a drop next year.

Will have to see what they do in the portal before making a statement on them. They had a solid portal haul this year and coupled that with an unbelievable freshman year from Grahovac.

Couldn't decide where to post this but I'm also hearing the news on the MLB draft isn't looking good for us right now either.

He's not getting crazy money from us. We spend like Larry Templeton at a Dirt Cheap.

lol i know and what i heard he's asking is crazy money. Only a couple of schools can/will pay what he's asking. These kids are getting a high opinion of themselves. Admittedly he's got some talent but he's still very raw. We'll see how it shakes out but he was pretty confident about coming to State last week but his asking price is pretty insane.

He isn't deserving of crazy money. He has a career 6.11 ERA with 15 BBs to 21 Ks. If someone wants to overpay, then go ahead. He's a project no matter where he goes. If I was him, I'd probably want to go to the guy who lowers ERA's. Just me though. Now maybe he doesn't think he can make it at the next level so he wants to get all he can at this level. Completely understandable, but we shoudn't want guys who can play at the college level. We want guys who can play at the next level. You obviously have to take some just college level guys, but you sure don't overpay for them.

You are correct. He's a high ceiling, low floor guy. Ability is there, got to find the rest.

And this is completely my opinion so no way of knowing the staff's opinion on the kid, but you have to wonder if Cerrantola, Walling, or Holcombe sit in the back of Lemonis' mind when you hear low floor high ceiling.

Exactly. I watched him enough while he was growing up and in high school. 100% arm talent, very little polish. His mechanics were all over the place and breaking ball was hit or miss. You know like i do though at that level of hs ball he got by just on chunking it. He did almost zero work in the off season with real instructors to refine his skills so he's gonna take some real work. If he finds it though, he's gonna be heck to deal with!

The difference is he does throw strikes more. The problem is he gives up bombs. Only reason I brought him up is he's a MS kid and I saw him dominate A&M hitters.

I'm just glad we got our national championship in before NIL. We will likely never see another. NIL has totally negated any recruiting advantage we had due to our playing atmosphere and fan support. Now schools with much less fan support and way smaller crowds but tons of money are taking players in the past we would have gotten.

We're a top 10 NIL in baseball. That's more excuse than reality really. We were never getting Skenes and Montgomery regardless. Our poor last couple years hurts way more than NIL.

Foxhall killed us more than anything with Skenes. With Montgomery, I don't know that we'll ever get the full story on that one. Maybe it was just truly he didn't want to play in MS. And if that's the case, then I get it. I just find it really hard to believe with what we offered him NIL wise that he wouldn't have sucked it up for 10 months

Well, we haven't gotten a top end transfer from the portal since NIL started. That's just a fact. Ledbetter and Stephen are maybe the 2 best but they certainly weren't considered elite. Maybe that's the best 'top ten' gets you.

Blake Cyr committed to Florida this morning. No clue on Torres. Hasn't been reported that he's visited anywhere as of yet. But then again, it was reported that Cyr visited Tennessee this weekend and commits to Florida this morning.
