He was supposed to go to Tennessee before A&M made him an offer he couldn't refuse. I would expect to land at Tennessee or some Top 10 school.

I would think that if some school felt they were close to making a real push in the playoffs next year, that they would make a huge push in landing him for 1 year before he goes pro. I expect he will get 7 figures from someone.

Absolutely. Premium player at a premium position.

    These guys are worth it:

    1. star QB
    2. LT
    3. Edge rusher
    4. DT who can rush the passer
    5. GameChanger at WR

What a player is "worth" is irrelevant if we can't afford to pay what others are offering

Then what the hell are we doing? I guess we should have just paid the hell out of players 12 years ago, built a brand, and went on probation for 3 years. It would have been a better path to being worth a shit.

Well cut us a 7 figure check and we can get in the Nolan sweepstakes.

N,Name, I Image , L Likeness is nothing but an ID system to hand over that pile of cash. I saw one commercial last year with a State and OM player for a clothing store on TV. Must be following the "rules" of this joke of a program on the internet. Get some rules with contracts. NFL style salary caps and get on with it. My wife recently had surgery and the male nurse was a LSU fan. He argued with me that the portal evened the playing field for getting talent. Finally admitted his wife was a State fan and mellowed out.

    Things I'd like to know....

What was he promised to sign at aTm? (He moved to Powell tn his sr year to be close to Knoxville). They must have broke the bank.

Did he actually get this money at aTm?

(Assuming he was paid)Did whoever paid this money at aTm, do they feel stupid now that he took their money, didn't win anything significant and now he is gone?

We gotta be smart with our money. Also I wouldn't spend that money every year either. Nolan for example, pass this year. Why? He is only playing one year. We ain't winning but 6-7 games with or without him. Don't waste that much money this year.

Now in our up cycle where we have ton of talent returning, good QB, ready to make our run every 4-5 years THEN pay big for a few key difference makers and make the best splash we can. Then go back to rebuilding slowly saving up for the next big purchases.

He's not worth 7 figures. He didn't change the outcome of a single game. No thanks.

This "we can't afford to pay" BS has to stop. We have a healthy NIL fund. Better than most. It's time that the narrative catches up with reality.

Well technically, we have 7 figure to pay a single DT. But it would kill the rest of the DL and other spots. So no, we don't have enough to pay Nolan his asking price.

Ole Miss media is pushing that they are really in the game with Nolan. That's probably not true but I think the real message they are trying to send is to other transfers that the #1 portal guy is interested so they should be too. Which is smart.
