Woody Marks Appreciation Post
Just want to give a shout out to Woody Marks - guy did it all, took a lot of licks, and played through a lot of pain and adversity.
I feel like sometimes we appreciated his grit, but couldn't fully recognize his talents because his stats were so different then any RB we've ever had.
Woody finishes 4 seasons at MSU #6 in Yards from Scrimmage All Time (Rushing+Receiving Yards) with 3108. Only Boobie, Fitz, Jerious, Perk, and Kylin are ahead of him.
He also finished with 27 TD's - tied with Michael Davis for #5 all-time at MSU.
He is our all-time leader in Receptions with 214, and is #2 in Rushing & Receiving Plays (or Touches) at 624 - Boobie leads that at 966.
Maybe we can convince him to hang on 1 more season.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Was he injured in the Egg Bowl, or was that just a momentary thing? Not sure if he came back in the game after that.

Woody was banged up most of the year with Ankle and Hammy problems. Dude gave it his all/

I still say the air raid did Marks a lot of good, showing that he was capable of being an all purpose back.

Woody to the Broncos. He would fit in with Sean Payton.

Absolutely. One of the all time Bulldogs.

amazing the difference in #1 & #2 in RB touches. That's wild. Yes, Woody is one tough sob!
-
And no matter how banged up he was at any given time, when we handed him the ball he always "brought it" hard. He's been a warrior.

Portal move would do wonders for him.

I think he injured his hamstring, or aggravated it, during the Egg.

Woody is a damn warrior! Remember when Bama broke his nose? They packed cotton up it and he finished the game.
-
So is he officially gone? He has one more year.

Against W Mich when he scored the TD. You could see him strain it when he crossed the goaline/.

Woody is a good back and has laid it on the line for MSU.
Also kudos to all the seniors who came back and fought hard for State this year - Watson, Jet, Crumedy, Pick, and so many others.
