Sunday Morning QB- Hookers in Pontotoc Edition

    1. What a wonderful day it was to enjoy lacrosse and foosball. Woke up in a great mood after another home win and clinched playoff berth. Quite the feat for a team that starts 5 ninth graders plus had two other starters suspended for their final home game. Can't behave in the building- cant get on the field tho amirite? Very proud of The Enforcer as his team won 17-4 in lacrosse and he helped to hold the other team scoreless during his 2Q's of play. But he is on an all-star team basically so its an expectation. Curious to see how they do in Dallas next weekend. Rewarded him with a seafood gumbo for dinner last night that turned out perfectly.

    2. Last night was bad. Earth-shaking news huh? Injuries are really hurting this team and its just ugly.

    3. Really liked the long drive last night but of course we couldnt finish it off like we should have. Did what we needed to do in keeping the D off the field and burn clock. Wright continued his terrible decision-making with a Pick-6 that totally changed the game. Took a sack on 2nd and 8 to kill another drive. Took a sack on a roll out pass. Terrible, terrible decisions at the QB position. I have heard that we have reached to a couple of QB's for next year that are interested in coming to State. All that could change obviously depending on the direction of our program.

    4. We finally had a Parson sighting. Did ok for his first college game but of course had a delay of game to start things off. Held the ball too long as most young guys do. Should see more of him moving forward

    5. Kentucky came out and abused Preston on the first drive. Deep pass then a PA pass for the TD. Makes you wonder why our Secondary is so bad? We dont have the talent we had last year obviously. McBath is still here coaching CB's- but we have a new Safety coach. Our Secondary is just terrible. Our course we dont rush the passer well and our LB's couldnt cover me. Jett dropped a pick to start the 2nd half that could have built some momentum. Just not making plays.

    6. Nice job by Lewis on the jet Kentucky ran. It was so good the announcer said he should hang with the Hookers in Pontotoc- https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/s...12810619277680

    7. Now let's address the elephant- what to do with our football program? I laugh when I see some of the names thrown out by people on their coaching wish list or who they think we could possibly get. Some of you act like it's still 2019 or 2005. It simply comes down to one thing:

    N I L

Want better players? Contribute to NIL. EVERYBODY that signs now is demanding some type of NIL deal. Mad this staff is recruiting jucos? Well, they are cheaper than portal guys. Our pocketbook isnt deep enough for going strictly portal. Mad that Mississippi is winning? Mississippi is paying over 300K for their back-up QB. They are paying a TE 100K. They spent money. Their fans live to talk about how they pay for players. They have alot more money committed to NIL than we do. We, on the other hand, do not remotely have that mentality in our fanbase. Many of our fans are the opposite. "Screw that. If a scholarship and what they get now isnt enough then I'll do something else with my money" I've heard and read that many times. We are currently 13th in the SEC in NIL- and Vandy is only behind us because they dont care enough. Want better players? Write a check. Nobody signs for free now. NIL is no longer for your best guys- it's everybody.

Want to hire a new Coach and staff? The first question every interested coach in our job is going to ask is- "Why are you 13th in the SEC in NIL? What is your plan as AD to raise the 10MM-15MM NIL per year it takes to compete in SEC football?" That is going to be what every coach asks our AD when we try to make a hire. Tom Herman is 48- he is going to choose his next P5 hire wisely because it could be his last chance. He willing to go at it with the 15th ranked war chest out of 16 in the SEC? Highly unlikely. And that will be the case with many guys looking to advance their career.

You guys keep on with the fallacy that I'm covering for this staff because of personal reasons. I dont care if we fire Arnett or not. I was just willing to give them a chance unlike many of you. Want to pull the trigger? ok. Just know now that things have changed from just 4 years ago when we hired Leach. We are sitting here with very little draftable talent now- and a tiny NIL compared to the rest of the SEC as it adds 2 more giants. It's an arms race out there and we are Denmark.

You nailed the NIL thing. Some on this board love to act like donating $20 a month to the BI is taking food out of their families mouth.

Plus, counting Dan?s last season in 17, we will be have had 5 coaches in 8 years and fired two after one and two seasons?

The offer is hey, come and coach in the hardest league in the country with the second least resources, it's a hard job and the roster will be completely bare, but the fun part is we have absolutely no patience.

I think we have to keep ZA to make the job palatable

If a potential coach is too scared to take our job, it's best for all of us that he doesn't take it. Let's weed out the рussy coaches.

Pretty much spot on for all points. But I have lost interest anyway. Watched more Bama/LSU than us last night and really was not all that interested in that.

I have not agreed with a damn thing you have said for the last 3 weeks but you are dead on the money with one thing, NIL.

It's not that we lose and are mad about it. It's the way this team looks even during the Ws. Even with Will at QB, CZA just looks lost and in over his head. He is a vastly inexperienced HC and we should accept that and continue to give him time to learn how to be a HC? Not even Vandy would put up with that shite, but we should? If any experienced HC worth his lot would understand why we severed ties with him and Jomo. Leach didn't give a flying **** that we canned Jomo so why would another successful HC care if we fired CZA?

We have made some very bad hires recently. It was obvious far too quickly we couldn't keep Croom or JoMo and now CZA. Coach 34, it is obvious you should now be a guest writer for the Food Network. Recent take on our "program" becoming unreadable except for NIL issues..

I think, and 34 can correct me if I am wrong, but I think the point he was trying to make was that a coach would give caution to taking our job because we fired Arnett after one year and gave him no NIL. I think the point is correct that we need to drastically improve NIL to be able to go get a sitting HC that could be successful here.

Yeah another Sunday post as to why this coaching staff isn't performing as we expected. Not as it should because I firmly believe this is their ceiling as coaches in their current experience level. Don't think C34 as really been critical of this staff and it must get tiring carrying all that water for them the entire season

And people bashed me for thinking the Bishop family was stupid for not at least earmarking some of their donation to athletics. I know it's their money to do what they want, but just imagine if they had put 20% of that to BI. Would help our NIL tremendously

We average 45k in attendance of "normal people" each game. If 50% of those people donate only $20 per month that is $5.4M. If these "cigar boys" continue throwing in another $1.5M per year that is almost $7M annually just for football. I'm sure that is still low but that buys you plenty of Mississippi/Alabama/Tennessee high 3 and low 4 stars. Right coach gets us 8 wins annually with that roster.

Selmon has to figure this shit out, change the fanbase perspective on NIL and if you are one of the ones on here complaining about NIL and refusing to donate, just know you are the problem.

There's no reason for us to try in NIL. We will never be higher than 15 out of 16th. We are the poorest school.

We need to get back to finding diamonds in the rough and developing talent and mix that in with below the radar transfers.

Change is contuning to happen. Hope we can stay in the SEC in the next 15 years. Wouldn't be shocked if we're asked to not join the next realignment

We are not where we want to be on NIL, but C. Winfield himself posted recently that we are in better shape than we have ever been on NIL and every player has a NIL deal. I have been to virtually every home game for over 55 years as a season ticket holder and much of the good lower $eats were empty by halftime last night. 3rd quarter attendance a joke, 4th a disgrace. Think those who pay big $ for this "experience" will give more if this clown show continues? This is now a double edged sword if you want more $upport on and off the field. I know no one who has any hope in the status quo and I know a lot of State fans in NE MS. We need a restart with a real SEC type, experienced HC and staff ASAP!

I agree somewhat - we will never match our conference money wise. Now just like we used to find guys to develop into great players in HS, I think we can do the same in the portal. Maybe spend less time fighting over the immediate impact guys and go after the ones that will be somebody in 2 seasons. To do this though, we need a guy that has Mullen's eye for talent.

I can't make every home game anymore due to kids and location so the ones I don't I donate $50 on top of my monthly. Still way cheaper than gas, tickets, beer, etc.

CFB attendance is down nationally, there's no way around that everyone is seeing the same. Our AD needs to find a way to market if you aren't going to the games, do your part on the NIL aspect.

Yep, in the Dan days we were oversold and probably sitting around 55k unofficially. Got to start somewhere, it'll get tougher before easier but it isn't an unfathomable task. We hopefully have the right guy in Selmon up top.

We are averaging over 50,000 this year. A less than last season but more than 2021
