2024 MSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Some of it may be coaching, but I had no idea we had recruited so poorly on D the last few years. We have no difference makers on DL or CB as many as we have in NFL. I heard all Spring about how much speed we had in the secondary. If so, they must be taking very bad angles when trying to cover or tackle. I know 3-3-5 is designed for front three to jam up OL & our LB's to make the tackles, but most are in pursuit 6 to 8 yards down the field. Only ST are well coached and performing at a SEC level. Better be careful who we try to retain with NIL funds (covid players).

I suspect we're having issues with Arnett and Brock managing the defense to a degree. I think we're actually OK as far as the middle of the front seven- Pickering, Crumedy, Jett, and Bookie are solid players. But we lack anyone that can create havoc on the EDGE. I was always confused as to why that wasn't a priority in the offseason. Relying on Jordan Davis was always risky given his injury history. Basically we have a defense that is built to stop the run. Even then we're only average at that.

Mike Wright should be the answer.

We really didn't spend a ton of money in the portal, we did spend NIL money to keep a lot of our seniors because we all expected this to be a damn good year. It still could be, but we need to figure some sh!t out.

If we get Petty and Flowers, that will be two of the best dual threat QB's we have ever signed in one class. Pope seems like a tweener. Not sure he is big enough for LB and too small for DB.

I'm not sure about the dual threat QB thing with this offense. We have one on the bench and it doesn't seem like Barbay knows how to use him.

Pope is being recruited as a RB. Not sure if he stays there or not. Might actually end up being a H-Back or moving to defense.

This may not be popular but I wouldn't be surprised if we use our NIL money on getting back our COVID guys and just try again with a new coaching staff.

We did that this year, there aren?t many eligible to do that and the impact guys are out of eligibility.

Donterry Russell looks like a guy who is going to be a premium pass rusher going forward. John Lewis has flashed some but is wildly inconsistent. I'm curious to see if Nic Mitchell and Zakari Tillman end up giving us more speed at the two off the ball linebacker spots.

Fully aware on Hughes. He is ?coaching? RBs. Time to get him off the field and move to office role and get Washington on field to coach safeties over Dewhurst.

Freddie- Same type of player we already have none difference maker
Albert-I think this kid would?ve helped a lot had he not got hurt
