I'm a little surprised we didn't try to play small ball there with a 1-0 deficit and the beast on the mound. Sound have probably tried to cause some chaos by bunting Brown and/or Armstrong to make that guy cannon one past the first baseman.
Hindsight is 20/20 though

No, he's right on this. Running at the runner is the right move. You make the runner commit, then throw it ahead of him, not behind him. Even if Pirtle had caught that, it would have been a close play at 3rd.
