Cause we are trying for strikeouts. We nibble to try and get calls or hitters to chase and when we don't get calls or they don't chase we get in trouble. We get ahead a lot and then start throwing breaking balls off the plate trying to get the k and next thing you know it's 3-2. When you get ahead that's when you should attack and get weak contact. Imo
Agree, but if you're an opposing coach, you definitely tell your players to lay off the next few pitches after the strike count gets to 2... don't help the State pitcher out chasing a ball out of the zone.
