Boy what could have been. Ha
Kiper has Forbes at 23 to Vikes and Derrick Hall from Gulfport at 27 to Bills.

Well Smoot can tell him what party Barges to avoid.

The point of this was to just show the amount of talent in this state. If we were like LSU and Ark and only had 1 SEC school and brain washed all kids to be State or it is treason, could you imagine the championships under the belt?

MS doesn't produce the number of players more populated states produce. We could get every kid in MS and still be behind several schools talent wise.

It used to be said on an average the 4 star Miss kid would be a 3 star in Louisiana and a 2 star in Georgia. It's just that the schools in those states have better programs.

Ok well there are 2 MS boys in the top 27 projected for the NFL draft, so to each his own.

You missed the point.
If there was only ONE sec school in Mississippi.
If ole miss or state was a G5 school, then the 1 SEC school in Mississippi would be very very good. 2018 Miss st defense with the dk metcalf and aj brown on offense.
If Mississippi was set up like Louisiana with only 1 power 5 team in the state and we brainwashed them like Louisiana does that if you do not come to the sec school you will burn in hell, then either state or ole miss would be a top 15 program in college football, Atleast better than auburn historically and probably a step down from LSU but not by much, that team would have a realistic shot at a national title

I don't know if brainwashed is the word I would use. Maybe more like coerced.

I bet if we got every kid over a 2-3 year period we wouldn't have very many holes.

Credit to Derrick Hall. He proved me wrong. I saw him play several times when he was at Gulfport. He was built like grown man back then, but we was soft as toilet paper on the field. I never thought he would see the field at Auburn much less be a potential first round pick.

We would be ahead of where we are though...

Also depends on who's recruiting them the hardest and who they've committed to. A 2-star from (fill in the blank) becomes a 4/5-star if committed to Bama, LSU, UGA, AU, etc. It's always been that way. We could get every 4-star over five states and our class would still be ranked low because they would drop to 2/3-stars when they committed or signed.

Well there are two guys from Starkville playing in the Super Bowl. What would have been those odds?
-
The 20th ranked player in Mississippi would be equivalent to the 100th ranked player in Georgia.

We don't have the numbers to be better, but we'd usually be right there with them just because we produce so many playmakers. Even if our average talent level was a step behind, having playmakers to go head to head can make make up for that to an extent. Our Achilles heel would probably be LT and QB. We'd consistently have big time play makers all over the defense and RB, and usually be fine at WR.

Hey, we had Banks (Thorp winner) and Slay in the same backfield. Imagine that.
