The positive is that it puts every OC in the country on notice that MSU was willing to go big - it very easily could shake out a candidate that we weren't expecting. It's not like it was some unknown or re-tread who said no. THAT would be a negative.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

So Arnett inherited an AR offense, has AR recruits coming in. So AR staff is cut and some pieces hit the TP. Now he has been embarrassed nationally swinging for the fences on a OC. Everyone now is a second choice. Is Arnett over his head?

Embarrassed nationally? I don?t anyone paying attention except message board posters from State and Arky

1) An SEC OC is successful at a school that can match our offers. 1st clue we weren't getting Briles.
2) His agent is notorious for playing schools for pay raises, literally just did it to Auburn with Kiffin. Clue 2.
3) Our insiders were told yesterday we got him, but the signing kept dragging and dragging, almost like Briles was trying to see what Arky would counter with. Clue 3.
Insiders get their info from people close to the situation. people close to the situation care a LOT and are eager to believe anything that's good for State. We, as a viewing audience, need to be more critical. This would have been an unusual move, the agent does this all the time, and unexplained hold ups kept this from moving quick. The ONLY thing implying this would happen was that he was giving us the time of day, which of course he would, he has too to get an offer he can take to Arky to match.
You act like we are all beat up over this news? This is the game. We move on to the next on the list. No big deal.

Yeah, even if you google Briles and MSU prior to this it barely showed any references other than message board stuff.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the only time this has happened. I saw where someone said if true then he isn't man enough for our job. Well, I can say "If your wife ain't happy then no one is happy"!
Family is very important, well too most anyway. Hard to pack up and leave especially with kids involved.

Embarrassed? No way. If anything it sends a signal that he is willing to go hard after a known great young coordinator. And that we as a school are will to pay top assistant money for a coach.

Both of you need to get the **** outta here with this "poor ole Mitthippi State" shit. Arnett had the balls to go after who he wanted and knew we would be countered if AR wanted to keep Briles. Sexton played AR, if he played anybody.
