This is probably factual. But it's way too early in the year for it to mean anything.

We only have 19 pressures!? Wow. That's fantastic considering we've thrown the ball so much

I was also surprised. However, if that QBR under pressure stays low, I have a feeling we may see some more blitzing. That could go either way for us. Will be interesting to watch. Defenses may be content to just sit in the 3-8 though.

If they blitz, that opens up room for the mesh or screens to work. If they stay in 3-8 zone, we play action them. That was the point of the play action- to freeze the LBs so there's space behind them. DCs now have to adjust because (credit to Will here) we executed it well every time. Maybe they adjust by bringing the safeties up and in and forcing Will to beat the corners deep, or hell maybe they should just tell the LBs to ignore the run and trust their 3 DL to beat our terrible run blocking OL, but they can't keep letting 3 LBs get sucked up by play action and miss their zone responsibilities.
Memphis doesn't seem to have the defensive coaching to come up with the correct adjustment and execute it, so it will be interesting to see what LSU does.
But, as long as it's a running down, play action will defeat the 3-8. Leach finally adapted

Im not understanding our defensive rankings. They look not so good but what I've seen is a pretty solid D.

It’s a ranking. It’s how good you are relative to others. And with only two games it’s skewed. Like if we “ranked” wins/losses, Vandy would be tied with Clemson and Ohio State. But Vandy won’t stay that way. There aren’t enough games played to get a gauge yet.

We didnt play very good D against La Tech so thats why its where it is. We'll see how we do against Memphis. They have a pretty good offense.

This is the correct answer.

We've given up 4 def TD. One in extreme garbage time.

The defense played great against NC State. It did not against La Tech. 27 points were given up and we were lucky it wasnt more.
Can Memphis put up 27 on us? We'll see. I hope not because if they get 27-30 we could be in trouble

Mississippi State will score in the mid 30?s or higher this weekend. If Memphis can score with us against our defense, they deserve to win. There was no excuse for our defense to give LaTech 27 points and no way our defense should give Memphis the high 20?s. So....
State 38 Memphis 24

As someone said a few years ago, we gonna score so much on mempho it's gonna be like a First 48 episode streaming live from whirehaven.
