Let me try this one….. Stanford just threw their ace on 3 days rest for 2.6 innings, yes he did great for 2 in innings, then velocity dropped by 4 mph and lost command. I do believe I directly addressed this in another thread with you. Yes you can bring them back on short rest but a guy that is normally 95 mph for 6 innings will now be 91 and flat and on average be good for 2-3 innings and you have now made it where he can’t be 100 percent again in this tournament….. for the life of me I can not understand why you can’t wrap your mind around this simple concept.
Yes and this is why pitchers throwing on short rest in the postseason have such a poor win/loss record. The era is higher, batting average allowed higher and every other metric to measure success in pitching drops dramatically.

You're guaranteeing you throw him on 4 days rest. In the other scenario, there's a pretty good chance he goes game 1 on complete rest with no restrictions. That is best case. And even worst case, sure, he goes 3 days rest for game 3, but he will have gotten more rest before his Saturday start, so it's only one start on shorter rest than normal instead of 2.

Plus…bednar hasn’t been consistently dominant his last several starts. Hopefully he’s figured some stuff out based on listening to foxhall but Harding has been more consistent lately. Let him get us to the the ‘ship then have everybody on decent rest for our biggest series in 8 years.

Define your "pretty good chance". What percentage would you give us beating Ty Madden with Harding? Give me a number. We'll find out Vegas' number if that happens.
I say we have a 30% chance of beating Ty Madden with Harding. That would not be a "very good chance" of seeing Bednar Game 1 of the Finals.

Harding has TWO starts since St Pattys Day that went 2 innings and 4 innings. I don't like those odds of "letting him get us to the Ship" against Madden and the number two overall seeded team. Sorry.

Already beat a fully rested Madden twice …… not overly concerned about Madden shutting us down for more than 5 innings. Madden not on full rest is not the Madden you have seen 2x this year. I know you will argue this but facts are facts.

Sure they do. According to you a 3 day rested arm should resemble a toddler on the mound. So why would they do that? Oh maybe because it's not as dramatic as you are making it out to be. And I'm advocating Bednar on FOUR days rest not 3.

You miss the point don’t ya… what is the difference between MS State and Texas in regards to this CWS?

Dude I don't care that we haven't lost yet. I'm not putting myself in a position to where the only time we could see Bednar in the finals is on 3 days rest in game 3. I'm not making that an option. By pitching him tomorrow you guarantee that he would be on 4 days rest in the Finals for a start.

MSU is a better team. Has beaten them twice and will beat them a third time if needs be. We have better pitching. Did I mention Cumbest could whip any one of them in a fist fight. He as to be the biggest out fielder playing baseball at any level.

Harding could have and should have been allowed to go more than 4 in that last start.
And 2 of Bednar's last 4 starts haven't gone more than 3 IP. So...

So what. We know Bednar is better.

It's why I said wait and see how tonight plays out before slotting Madden and TX against us tomorrow. We may not even play them and both of them could be throwing just what they have left and we don't need a shut down pitching performance
