Fellas....
I'd like to know how many on this board wake up every day hoping this will be the day the NCAA punches Ole Miss in the mouth. I am not going to take up for the Rebels in this post, but moreso give my opinion that a large portion of our fanbase put more focus/hope into what may or may not be happening with Ole Miss and their recruiting efforts than what's going on with our on football program. Does this sound like a Genespage post? Maybe, but shit guys this seems to be getting old year in and year out. Next year will be no different.
Every major college football program cheats. Every damn one of them. If the NCAA is going to do something to Ole Miss for what they may or may not have done then it will happen. There is nothing you nor I can do to speed up this process.
I have never been more excited about an upcoming MSU football season. Hell I could even say the next 3 years. Football stadium expansion, Heisman QB candidate, bad-ass defense, every QB we have is over 6'3.....
Enjoy it more and quit worrying about what you can't control.
Commence the bashing......

Do I hope Ole Miss crashes and burns? Sure. Do I think they do some very sketchy things? Yes. Do I worry about it? No.
We just need to be excited about Mississippi State and not give them the slightest thought until we play them.
Now obviously I'm in Georgia, so it's much easier for me. I'm not surrounded by them and rarely ever think about them. And I'm guessing my overall MSU fan experience is much more pleasant because of that.

I just don't get why any of our fans have such a burr-up-their-butt about other Bulldog fans caring about what happens to our rival. What happens to our rival can and does impact us. Maybe some take it to the extreme, but so what? Those who hate Ole Miss and what they stand for enjoy sharing & debating that with fellow fans.
If we wanted to discourage that kind of input or dialogue, we could all just go back to spending our time on SPS.
I am not as focused on them as some, but I do hate those stuck-up, self-important, condescending superficial jackasses, and I love to see them fail. Their failures are not only fun for me to witness, but they have the potential to help my school by contrast.
I had actually softened my stance on Ole Miss after having been away from my beloved alma-mater and state for nearly 30 years, until I got on Rivals message board and got quickly reminded exactly why I hate those pukes so much. The stereotypes are mostly true. They are delusional beyond belief and that delusion drives a false-sense of superiority that, when combined with their arrogance and bad manners, results in a fanbase that is way beyond obnoxious and annoying.
I truly would love to see them lose in everything, every-damn-thing! They absolutely deserve every bit of humility & shame that can come their way. It's called, "just desserts".

I think he's referring to the general sense of "obsession" that many of our fans seem to express. It's annoying. Do I like OM? **** no! Do I want them to lose every game they play? Yeah. Do I get some amount of satisfaction with every instance of their embarrassment (e.g., Post election "riot", gay slurs, etc.)? Absolutely!
But I don't spend every waking moment of my life thinking about how much I hate OM. There are some of us who seem to almost hate OM, more than they love MSU. That shit ain't healthy.
Edit: When I said I get satisfaction from OM's embarrassment, that only goes so far. For the most part, I think many of their "situations" end up hurting all of us, as in Mississippians, MSU and OM peeps alike. When people in Maine turn on the TV and see a news story about "Mississippi Football Players" yelling gay slurs during a play, or "University of MS students" rioting in protest of the re-election of our African American President, it being from the state of Mississippi, most people don't only see Ole Miss as guilty; it just furthers the stereotypes of MS as a whole. THAT shit pisses me off. So thanks for that Ole Miss. You're ****in' up.

It's the roller coaster of hope that this program keeps us on that makes it hell being a State fan. - CadaverDawg, 10/15/22

And let me add that this IS (or was) the recruiting season high point where, once again, OM takes a recruit from us VERY late with shady looking circumstances. What do you EXPECT people to talk about. Our basketball team sucks, baseball hasn't started, so its not like there are that many other worthwhile topics other than what football assistant we might hire. I will say I believe the following right or wrong:
a. Everyone cheats.
b. The hardcore OM contingent and their current staff will go to more excessive extremes to get a recruit than we do because, in general, they care more about recruiting than our fans do and their self esteem is very intertwined with their recruiting ranking.
c. I have ZERO belief that anything they do will have any NCAA consequences.
d. I have fairly high confidence that anything we do WILL get us in trouble because our booster suck at knowing how to cheat and keeping it quiet and because of the idealistic, naive viewpoint our administration and compliance department have about recruiting (reference 3 probations at MSU since OM has had one while OM has consistently had higher ranked recruiting classes).
e. None of it keeps me up at night and I'm much more worried about how our ACTUAL football team performs than how we are ranked in recruiting.

For me personally:
A) I hate those SOB's with a passion
B) I enjoy the rivalry
C) I have a genetic defect that enjoys poking people with a stick to the point that it sends them into blind, stuttering rage. This defect has both helped me and hurt me in life- but it's there nonetheless.

I suspect some of you are making the mistake of assuming that a person who makes posts on related message boards that are consistently anti-Ole Miss are letting that carry over into the rest of their lives. I believe the reality is, when they are on sites like this, they are in that, "Love State, Hate Ole Miss" mode and are looking to actively engage that mindset, and express themselves in these forums, as is appropriate. I seriously doubt there is anybody that spends much, if any time on this stuff when they're off the sports boards living their lives. They're not unable to perform work duties because all they can think about is Ole Miss. They're not worried about Ole Miss BS when they're out cutting the lawn, paying the bills, making sweet love, getting their kids off to school , etc, etc.
These boards are a microcosm of our lives, so however much one chooses to use that relatively insignificant time to bash or vent about Ole Miss is not at all indicative of how they spend the majority of their lives.

Kinda like a man who pays the bills by doing gay porn, yet outside of work, is a straight man?

I would love to see OM get completely annihilated by the NCAA, just for the entertainment value alone. I could see Freeze having a Jim Bakker moment on the news.

I, too, suffer from A and B. I am the opposite of C. I let ppl rattle my cage until I go full-on crazy to prove them different. Which is honoestly where i think we as a fanbase, program, and a university are now at. We got tired of having those from OM look down and talk about us...now I want to not only show them up, but do what they have NEVER done.

I agree for the most part, but I also understand how keeping up with their actions can help us (if we respond to them correctly). I've learned to just ignore posts that contain any of the usual overly-used cliches: "they only care about stars!", "media propaganda!", "their lawyers have an iron grip!" and other bullcrap that may or may not be accurate. They can be some delusional, arrogant peckerheads, but whatevs..

I enjoy the rivalry, especially our domination of all 3 sports over the latter half of my lifetime.
Its more intense now than ever because of the sleazeball Hugh Freeze is. Nutt wasn't sleazy. Orgeron wasn't sleazy. Cuttcliffe was a great coach and person. Brewer..not that sleazy.
Freeze's blend of religion and football (I fear for your soul if you go to Mississippi State) takes Ole Miss to televangelist levels. That's a level of sleazy that makes Orgeron look like a Boy Scout. I hate them for that.
As for their cheating, I'm jealous more than anything. I HATE that they do what I wish we were doing while our program is run by Andy Griffith and Barney Fife.
I also hate them badly for the 11th hour flipmas bullshit. That stuff doesn't benefit either team. Look at the guys they pulled from us the last minute. How productive have they been? Bribing a guy at the last minute to steer him away from where he had been set on going is not good for anybody, including the player. But it drives crootin hype and self-entitlement at Ole Miss and I hate them for that too.
**** 'em.
