Would be an awesome hire. His recruiting territory is New Orleans already, he'd fit right in and bring in some more young fire to the coaching staff.

This would be a great hire and it would certainly help with all the talent coming out of La..

No doubt, I absolutely love that aspect fo sho

He's been recruiting La and Texas
Walk like the King or walk like you don't care who the King is

I would love this hire. It would allow mullen to continue to call plays while having a proven QB coach and recruiter on staff. I like it . Maybe it will work out!

Saw this thread and immediately though of Brian Johnson, the mid-2000s State basketball player.
Needless to say, I was confused for a moment why he was on campus.

Would've really loved a special teams coordinator honestly
Would it be a lateral move? Co-coordinator?

He is making in the range of 250-280k right now so I would assume we would have to pay him atleast 350k to get him which should be very doable.

This would be a great hire. Now we need to find a good college kicker who couldn't make it to the next level and give him a GA job or something along those lines
-
So are Johnson and the wake coach interviewing for the same position?

Brian Johnson says, "Money Talks." Hire the man.
I hope he brings Angus as ST coordinator.

Utah already has a 3* WR commit from Lousiana. Pretty impressive offer list including MSU.

My first thought was, "working double time on the seduction line, she's one of a kind, she's just mine, all mine." I was confused too.

This may be why he could potentially want out of Utah:

I wouldn't think it's a foregone conclusion that we won't make two hires. After all, we rotated Sallach off staff last year -- no reason to think we couldn't/wouldn't do that again if the right opportunity arose... Need a ST specialist in that position for sure.

I'm OK with hiring Johnson. But if we do so, I'll be upset if we don't promote Gonzalez to special teams coach.
I'm OK with hiring Johnson and Lobo as well so long as again, we promote Gonzalez to special teams coach. Of course, that would mean Sallach to the desk.
I would prefer that we just hire an awesome special teams coach and then win 10 games.
I know that this is getting into dead horse territory, but one of the main reason why Dan has not had a signature win is special teams being extremely sloppy. If we shore up special teams to go along with what Dan is doing on offense and what Geoff is doing on defense- look out SEC.
I'm tired of people getting good returns on us.
I'm tired of fair catching punts on the five.
I'm tired kicking off the ball and it barely getting to the ten. (Before Bell)
I'm tired of watching us dropping snaps and getting the punt blocked.
God is tired of me wasting prayers and his time on 30 yard field goal attempts.
It's way past time to fix special teams.
