Yep. I'm gonna tell you I had a player run over my catcher and throw a forearm into his head and me and the other coach almost came to blows over it. We were both ejected but I couldn't just stand by and let that happen.

I'm not a violent person by any means but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Protect your damn player is what he was supposed to do. You cuss out the ever living hell out of the official and then you tell your defense to go after their QB.

He did throw a fit. If you do the other half of that, you aren't a good coach.

Coaches that do that have trouble keeping a job, and then they have trouble finding one. The way to do it is to pound their team on the field when you see them next. I saw one get accused of running up the score once after his 9th graders had scored 4 times late on the other team's 1st D. The loser got quite vocal and almost physical about it. The winner just looked at him and said, you couldn't stop my Jr high. I'll leave the varsity in and we will score 100 next year. He would have done it too. It ended well for both teams because the loser wasn't coaching in the game the next year. To make a long story short, coaches can't be fans, as much as most of them would like to. I'm sure the winner in my example would have liked nothing better than to have punched that idiot.

Coaches can stand up for their players. And really should. And Dan didn't. So what I would have done is irrelevant.

Doesn?t help a coach to wallow in anger. He didn?t have the high definition view to confirm it was dirty so he did like a good coach. Showed his emotion to voice his displeasure and try to rally the troops. Then refocused and went back to playcalling a trash game for 3 Qs.

I wasn't at the game (it was on Thanksgiving) so don't know if they replayed it in the stadium or not ... but he certainly had access to high definition television, and the one in the south endzone is huge. It's always seemed to me that we rarely replay controversial plays in the stadium, however.

I don't think it was a first down, but it wasn't as much short of it as they placed the ball.

Crap like that hasn?t endeared Joe to the fanbase. Mullen hid his disdain well for a long time.

It was replayed. We all saw it. I don't know if he did. He pitched a fit, and returned to coaching. What else can you do. He must have done a decent job (even if he did have one foot out the door) because if we had had a few more minutes we would have won the game anyway.
