It’s a player safety issue. Not just the player being hit, but the one hitting with his helmet.

Players lead with their heads all the time and it is not targeting. That was a makeup call for missing the late hit and it is at Auburn. Thompson was reacting to a bang, bang play. I don't think he knew if he caught the ball or not, he had to make a play. But targeting is total BS.
