My best guess is that they don’t want to question the authority of the ump on the field since he “had the best view of it.” (He didn’t. Had no way to see the ball enter the glove.) I'm pissed at Hatcher. That ball wasn't even close to getting over the head of the SS. He shouldn't have been close to getting doubled off there.
