I can't say that I knew- but I can say that it didn't surprise me.
Make bad moves and the baseball gods teach you lessons.

He's not burnt.

I agree. Trying to win any kind of championship in football is a sunk cost fallacy. We need to keep it good enough to make money off of it, but that's all we'll get.

I don't know. I thought he had some injury issues?
Nevermind forgot this was Thursday.

No one knows why. It was truly a mind boggling decision especially with the lefties coming up. Oh well, the first real fck up by Lemon.

I doubt he will even be needed. Our pitching staff is a lot better now. Seriously, the guy that started tonight is their only good starting pitcher. They will start their backup QB on Saturday vs Ginn. A true freshman tomorrow against Plumlee. I like our chances the rest of the weekend.

Why are you surprised? His discipline at the plate has been non existent all season. He got lucky on the AB before with a cement mixer over plate.

Didn't look like it tonight. His breaking ball sucks but his FB is good. And with only 30 pitches I would think in a series like this if they have a one run lead on Saturday they are probably sending him back out there

I think we will end up winning the series and see this as one we could have swept. Arkansas pitching is horrible other then Cronin and Campbell.

I've seen Tony LaRussa who is the best manager I have ever seen IMO make moves that screwed up the Cardinals from getting to the postseason before. Every manager makes poor decisions from time to time. It's not a big deal as long as it is not a consistent issue.
It seemed like all night we were very slow to bring in guys from the pen. Small was struggling and we just left him out there too. It just feels to me like at times we have a poor feel of who to pitch when.

His breaking ball was horrible so all he had was his fastball. We hit him pretty damn hard too. I think we will feast on these pitchers in the 2nd and 3rd game.

I agree, and I hope we're both right. Just can't get swept this weekend.

I agree and I hope so. But it's yet another frustrating "we should have swept this team" series if that indeed happens. We probably could have swept USM, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, and we'll see about Arkansas. We should have won the series against LSU as well. I know and understand that things happen in baseball but it always seems like some BS happens every weekend (except for Alabama) and it's always something different. We should be running away with the SEC right now.
And yes- if given the choice between complaining about not sweeping and losing a series give me this option all day long.

The difference in this game was simple. Arkansas SP took advantage of the bizarre strike zone the ump had and Small did until one shitty inning where he inexplicably pitched 4 straight BP fastballs. We were slow to get him out and they took a 3-1 lead. If that game is tied 2-2, Self is not in the ball game in the 8th. That extra run was the difference in Lemonis making a dumb decision. Sucks but hey we are 32-7. I do think we take two because I doubt very seriously anyone’s strike zone will be as bad as Walsh’s was tonight and we will have the pitching advantage the rest of the weekend.

Said the same thing regarding LSU, but our hitters made their pitching staff look like all stars. Our adjustments were terrible, but Walsh sucked. That 1st strike on Foscue was the 3rd strike on the lead off walk by small in the 6th. Same damn spot. Different calls.
