I think there's a couple of kids who will commit. Again not 100% but I feel pretty good.

I feel like the realistic 247 rankings are so slow coming in this year that, out side of a few players, I'm not really sure who to get excited about possibly committing. Feels like 247 put everyone we are recruiting at the 85-87 level without even watching their film.

I love the rankings for what they bring as far as discussions but I trust MY eyes just as much as I trust Barton Simmons or Steve Wiltfong or Chad Simmons or Tom Luginbill. I know what my eyes like & go from there. Of course if Bama or Ohio st or UGA is willing to take you then you must be a top prospect. Here have a 4th *. The work comes from the kid ranked 300 isn't any different than the kid rated 500. That's why recruiting is a tool & entertainment not the end all be all.

I agree. I think that's the fun part. Seeing these players as high school guys and then projecting how good they will be.
Lee Witherspoon is an example. To me, I would give him a four star rating but the reason why he wasn't is because he was a late bloomer who committed and then didn't waver.

Witherspoon was rated where he was because he only played one year at RB and that was against weak competition He has great speed and that is really all we know about him. We took two plan 'C' guys last year at RB. We are hoping to get lucky.

When you're setting state records- like Dicenzo Miller did- with that size and speed you're probably a legit player.

He might work out. The other would be a miracle. But we need a warm body.

That we are settling with "a needed warm body" at the RB position thus far under JoMo, causes me deep concern, especially with our history of really good players at that position. I don't think his "offense" will ever appeal to good RB's unless he makes an effort to get them the touches. Hope 2019 proves me wrong. Hail State!

I think he'll prove you wrong in the 2020 class.

It doesn’t bother me. They put all their eggs in a basket to get the best RB in the country (which many thought we had silently committed) and missed out on him to the instate school.
I believe we will be more than fine this year at RB. Hill is going to have a monster year with Gibson having a very good year an

I don't understand why Kareem Walker isn't more talked about. He was highly recruited 2 years ago, went to a JC and then his stock apparently fell. He looks terrific watching his videos.

To be fair to JoMo, since he's been here he hasn't had any SEC caliber RBs sitting on his backporch like Mullen had in Kylin Hill and Aeris Williams. Granted he hasn't pulled in any big time backs from around the South but its not like he's whiffed on a MS RB that should have been a lock for us.

There was no thought, he did privately commit but plans changed.

And committed publicly on first trip to Georgia. Makes you think he told coaches what they wanted to hear

So where are we at present with RB recruiting? We are at best in a dead heat with Florida State for Marks. Both teams have a huge need and are knocking his door down. Cory Wren is leaning TCU and we need to get him on campus soon. Not sure what happened with Gibbs but he hasn't been on campus either. Trey Benson seems to be infatuated with Oregon....I know, I know it's a long way from home. I'm not in the know but it doesn't appear that we lead for anyone.

I think you're pretty spot on but I personally think we lead for Benson. Man he is a must get.
