Maybe, but even if the ball hadn't bounced he wouldn't have got the runner. It was pretty deep in the SS position and he wasn't exactly in the right place to make the play.

Are they taught to move toward the base on a steal if it's not their bag? That cost us the out. That was a routine grounder.

It was so deep because he made a move towards 2nd even thought the second baseman was covering the bag. It was only one step to his right.

I could be wrong but I doubt it.

Made their pitcher throw 7 or 8 pitches to get 3 outs none of them hit hard that inning. Small is already almost at 50 pitches.

He has little to no chance of hitting anything on the outside of the plate.

With his current pitch count, Small making it to the 6th would be a big success.

Lol as soon as the batters begin to assume the inside corner is a ball the ump rings him up

He got picked off. Then we got a walk on the next pitch and a single. Probably would have scored a run and the inning would still be alive. big play.

Just a sluggish game and bad start for Small. That one inning may cost us the game with the way their starter is pitching and our lineup is approaching him. 2-1 Tenn bottom of the fifth.
