    Baseball and Football now....

    1) How much (if any) did the LSU series change your views on how good this baseball team is and how far they can go?

    2) What would you like to see change next weekend?

    3) Are you ready to start thinking and talking football, or did last season's disappointment make you want to hold off until after baseball season?

Didn't change much w me. Never thought we were elite. At least yet. And our defense never will be. Will still have some good pieces in our pen.
2- we are playing the guys that are the best players. Staff isn't stupid. Tanner is fighting it, but he will be ok long run.
3- still don't have the bad taste out of my mouth from last year. No desire at this point to talk about a 6-6 team.

    1) my expectations are definitely tempered. Seeing the defense in person was sobering. The issues with Sunday pitching, both of those just are not conducive to a deep run of it holds.

    2) No thoughts on improvements.

    3) Football has just fallen off my radar after last year. Just can?t get excited about it.

    1. Tremendously. We will be lucky to get out of a regional. We don't have the pitch depth we thought we had and our defense isn't a championship caliber d. And it wasn't just this werkend.

    2. Better D. Good pitching in all 3 games.

    3. Yeah don't care right now about football.

It hasn't really changed my mind on what our team can accomplish this year. It did show me that LSU has a lot better infield play than us so far. Some of those LSU hits shouldn't have been hits (that went through to the outfield). I would like to see better infield play, or maybe possibly one or two infield position changes. Maybe we just got spoiled the last several years on our infield play, but in this series, LSU definitely had the superior infield play.

Did folks really think we wouldn’t lose an SEC series?!?!

We’re a good team...real good. We have some things to iron out. I said during the Fla series that our defense may prevent us from reaching full potential

    1. None. I'm more upset about the lack of focus than anything. I think that this was a kick in the ass more than a consistent issue type of deal. I also believe that teams grow the most in the SEC over weeks 1-5 especially MSU teams and I think they will fix things pretty soon. Our issues have been inconsistent. Hitting against USM. Pitching/bullpen against Auburn. Defense against LSU. They can go all the way but they MUST maintain laser focus on winning the National Championship and not listen to people telling them how good they are going forward.

    2. I want to see better overall fundamental play and our pitchers attacking the strike zone more consistently next weekend and going forward. I want to see Cerentola step up and start Tuesday with Skelton or Gilbert catching him instead of Jones and see if that helps him. I want to see Tanner Allen moved to DH and dropped down in the order and Hatcher at first and see if that helps the infield defense. I want to see Rowdey move up in the order. I want to see Tyler Spring get more chances midweek and beyond especially if Cerentola doesn't step up. I want to see more flexibility with our pitching staff instead of a rigid plan where everyone goes one inning and there are no contingencies in place if someone doesn't perform well. I want to see Lemonis bark at some umpires when our pitchers are getting squeezed and our hitters getting screwed. I want the baserunning mistakes reduced. I want to see more energy from our team.

    3. I'm excited about football as always. Looking forward to seeing the team in the Dome and USM, LSU, Bama, and the Egg Bowl in Starkville. Kentucky will be a pretty big game too after what happened last year. I'm interested to see how this team evolves and see if we make progress with Moorhead.

If we don't win it all it's because of we didn't have a third starter step up.

I think teams gloss over issues sometimes when they win and they don't actually do something until they lose. Which is unfortunate.

    1. Not really. I felt like that was coming. I don't think we're as bad as we played yesterday nor do I think we are elite.
    2. I would like to see the bullpen get better.
    3. Thinking about football seems overwhelming q

    1) a little. fans get carried away. message board posters really get carried away. all of the no. 1 in the country stuff and best team in the last 20 years stuff was ridiculous. we do have a very good team. we've got some good hitters and veteran leaders. fun team to pull for. Small and Ginn give us a chance every weekend. Get hot at the right time and we all know what can happen. but the defense is definitely a concern. we knew things were a little shaky at SS and 2B. Can't have 1B shaky too.

    2. I want to see the pen tightened up. Need to find our best 4 to 5 guys. I hope KJ gets another shot on Sunday. I would like to see Landon Jordan get some time at 2B. I know he has to improve defensively but I think he can give us some range there. If Hatcher is going to be in the lineup, he needs to be at 1B. Also, I want Cumbest to get more AB's. That dude has talent.

    3. I just can't.

1 - Not really but somewhat disappointed with game 2; JT struggled a bit but so did rest of our team. I expected JT to not allow much, certainly not 9 hits
2 - Not sure, right now whatever it takes to win.
3 - I'll be OK talking football thru spring game, then after that total switch to spring sports until late summer.

Ginn gave up some hits, but we should have been out of that 1st inning with 0 runs. We gave up 3. Defense let him down.

    1) Splitting a 3-game series with LSU does not mean we're a bad team. But somewhere along the way, we need to sweep a couple of SEC series -- might as well start this weekend on Rocky Top.

    2) I want to see Gunner at SS in place of Westy's abysmal glove, maybe move Westy to 1B or 2B w/ Tanner moving from the #3 spot in the lineup. We've gotta reduce the errors being committed by the infield.

    3) Not anywhere close to being ready to talk football, and not sure I'll be pumped for it come August (7 or 8 wins now is meh).

    1) losing 2 out of 3 is not splitting
    2) Just so you are aware, Gunner committed 19 errors at SS in Juco last year. Westy is our best option at SS.

Yeah, I saw that too. Now if we win the series at LSU, then that would be splitting.

You realize there are no home and home's in baseball right? There is not series at LSU this year. Oh boy, why do I bother?
