Howland is only above Bryce Drew to be lowest paid SEC coach, we are getting a deal

    http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/sala...ketball/coach/

A lot of coaches around $2.5 Mil per year with Howland being 50th highest paid coach at $2.2 Mil. Only Bryce Drew at $2.047 Mil is lower than Howland. After this year I imagine he gets bumped up since the average SEC salary looks like around $2.5M.

Would you rather pay taxes in California in 2013 or Mississippi in 2019?

Not sure what I feel about it. He is trending up recruiting and win total. Wish we had to coach effort and basic execution less by now.

$2.2M is pretty good money. It's ridiculous that a basketball coach gets paid that much.

No more so than what is being paid to football coaches. And some baseball coaches.

Not really when you factor in there's only 4 total salary basketball coaches on staff, the Hump seats 10k+ plus and every game is on national TV. Howland makes more than his salary here as well. Adidas is definitely throwing him some cookies too.

Our freshman look pretty damn strong. Woodard and Perry are both phenomenal for first year players and they both are high energy, big strong players. Howland has us starting to look more and more like his tough Pitt teams. We've played much better defensively the second half of this season. Howland is coaching effort and execution a lot more than it appears I think. Sometimes it takes awhile for it to sink in when you haven't been getting good coaching your entire playing careers until now.

And yet other teams look like they have to coach effort and intensity less.

Howland isn't going anywhere else. No need to bid against ourselves.

There will come a time when we need to raise it. When that time comes, raise it.

You the resident Kermit Davis fan now? We are about to be a 6th seed in the NCAA tourney just 4 years since Rick Ray got fired. That's actually a small miracle if you really think about it. Wanting better than that quicker than that is just unrealistic and we don't have some crazy storied history as a dominant basketball program to expect it to happen faster and better.

It was raised this year from previous season. Probably be bumped again, especially post-sweet 16. ;-)
