Apparently, Plumlee's gf is enrolled at MSU, so that certainly doesn't hurt our chances. That said, he was willing to go to Georgia before all the blue/grey/pink shirt crap happened, so it might not be a factor. Can't hurt though.

Its amazing how much the vibe of this thread changes on a daily basis.

I have been as hard on him as anyone, and most of it is deserved but the one thing no one who has any clue about him and his staff is their commitment and effort on the recruiting trail. They put the previous staff to shame on that front, if his effort on the field ever hits his effort off of it Moorhead will be a great one. Recruiting is the name of the game and he is good at it

Moorhead will earn some more rope if he can close with Mingo, Young, and Plumlee

Very well said and completely accurate!

It is amazing how this thread rides the roller coaster. It's why you have to let it play out.

If he pulls 2 of that group its a W. Mingo is the must get IMO.

BUT even if he gets none it wont be due to lack of effort, he is an extremely approachable and likable guy. That is a huge part of recruiting, something that Mullen didnt get

It was apparent to me Bama was playing the kid when he was all Tide and didn't sign in December. They were playing the best option game. It has nothing to do with Davis returning for 1 year they knew they were in play for other options. I've watched them do it too many times now.

I'm telling you it wasn't Bama choice it was the kids. You can believe it or not.

Any elite kid has to believe in their ability at the next level. But they also have to balance that with smarts and an understanding of the situation. I have to think he's looked at the amount of competition and said that it's ridiculous. They are bringing in 8-9 DL this year. Even elite kids have to look at that and say hey if I want to make an immediate impact not only am I going up against a bunch of folks, but when someone like Raekwon comes back that trickles down through the depth chart.

We have a much more favorable depth chart for him AND as a good of DL development to the NFL as anyone in the conference.

I know you have great sources and things in recruiting get squirrelly. Byron may be just saying this for some resson but he said it was their decision not his. As long as we get him I'm good with it either way lol!

So let's assume Bama is off the table, who are the players for young? Us, OM, Florida (he visited), anyone else?

Makes you wonder. We hear the same ole thing every year. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard or seen "let it play out". Do people forget or are there newbies who need educating on recruiting every year?

The main thing about JoMo that is already apparent is that he is likeable and approachable and so is the rest of the staff. Now that has not paid dividends too much yet, but that is because recruiting is a relationship business and he just hasn't been on the job as long as his competitors. You can point to Jimbo but he has a national title and walked into a school that was already a top 10 recruiter. I am interested to see how players 2 and 3 years out commit to JoMo when a guy like Schrader never wavered with him.

I'll defer to you on this situation because you're closer to it than I am but I heard they sent him papers in December just in case he changed his mind & decided to sign.

Regardless if it was Bama decision or Byron as long as the end result is Byron in Maroon & white I'm good. He's a potential huge piece to this recruiting puzzle.
