FYI: We are 22 under the 85 right now counting Simmons going pro. Have to assume a TE leaves the team. So 23 might be a good number to look at. That would be 9 signees in February.
1. Pickering
2. Moore
3. Walker
4. Cunningham
5. Washington: Maybe
6. DJ James: Doubtful
7. Payton: Doubtful
8. Emerson: 50/50
9: Mingo or TJ Jones
10: Plumlee
11: Colin Duncan
12: Ealy-sure, why not

Yeah Ari brings the best info and is the most willing to share. That said, he always leans too optimistic so adjust your expectations accordingly

nothing against Ari, when it comes to recruiting no one knows anything. Paul and Steve and everyone thought we would sign 80% of the class.

Damn reading this thread one would think we are somewhere around 35 or 40 ranking right now.
When it comes to the 80% signing. Yes I said it because it was told to me by a coach on the staff
We have 7 ESPN top 300 Players signed or commited right now .. Thats strong for us
The biggest kick in the nuts today was DJ James not signing. But everyone knew if Aub or Bama got serious about him things would get dicey.
With Brooks he has been back and forth now with Arky for 3 months not a huge surprise
With Hall I have heard more negative things about him than positive. Saying that yes we would have loved to get him, but here is a prediction by me bookmark it . Purvis will have a better college career than Hall at LB if they both end up there
Mingo and Young still available and the door isn’t closed there . Let’s see what happens next few weeks
And some other names will come up .
So yes today could have been better but at least we aren’t OM. Talk about getting pissed and shit on ..

Don't be surprised if Moore ends up elsewhere (issues!)

Don't read into what he posts on Twitter. He likes the attention and is going to enjoy the process all the way.

The people who are blasting Ari because of what he said about 80% and thought it was guaranteed should only blame themselves for duping themselves. And that is in no way a knock on Ari. I appreciate any leads and info. he gives along with IYOK's. But there is no way for them to know what all is going on with these kids. All they know is what they have been told and share. Thanks for all of the info guys.
Those that are complaining about not getting 80% need to chill out and just think for yourself and consider how many variables are at play here. Nothing is concrete until there is a signature on a dotted line. And even then, things could still change. Just enjoy one of the better classes we've had so far. At least the staff got those in the boat yesterday and can focus more of their attention on who else we need and can finish strong. There is plenty to celebrate.

I don't think anyone on our staff saw this coming and that is a bit concerning to me. We landed 61% of our commits, the lowest % of any SEC team. We want to sign 25 so we have 11 spots to fill in 48 days.....that's a mountain to climb. We will have two of our elite commits taking visits to elite programs and three others doing the same thing. We all expected Joe and company to close the deal and they came up a little short. I do think some changes need to be made to address this and I believe Joe will make them. If we had the signatures of Pickering, Moore, Washington and Emerson these next 48 days would be more productive. And yes Ari, I got blasted for saying we would land 17-20 on signing day.

So now that it’s done how big of a loss do we really think Brooks was?

Honestly not a bad first full recruiting cycle for this staff. A lot of recruiting is building relationships over time, and sadly these guys have been on the job for 1 year. Seems like they hit the ground running. Wait till the current sophomores and juniors with 2 year cycles with JoMo start committing. We are going to keep improving on this front.
We are never going to be a top 5 recruiter, but say we raise our 4 year avg. to 15th over the next few years gonna be a fun time.

We would have been excited to have him. How big our loss is will be determined by who we replace him with.

It's not over yet. We can't render a final judgement until 48 days.

Yeah and I still think we close strong. Pickering, Moore, Mingo, Young, Plumlee, and some fillers and I think the craze will calm for sure. I just feel this staff gets recruiting and will raise our overall profile. 26 to 15ish
Dan never sold MSU in my opinion and we recruited poorly because of that. JoMo is trying to shatter the glass ceiling. Will his coaching be good enough remains to be seen, but I like him not pegging us as inferior.

If we close with those, then this class is top notch. Great class

That would be one hell of a finish, but quite unlikely imo

Sure. I'm excited to see what Hughes can do. Particularly with Young. That part of the state is Hughes' honey hole
I don't know if we can beat out Bama for Young at the end of the day, but I do believe that Tony will know multiple people that have influence in the Young recruitment & make things interesting

Young's not going to come here. He'll listen and visit but he's not staying in MS. I don't see that changing unless he gets caught up in a numbers game. You guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment if you believe otherwise.
