My point was that it's amazing how Saban gets kids to come in with a blue collar attitude when their assumption is that winning and the draft is entitled to them just because of the Jersey they wear.

That process starts before they ever sign their name on the dotted line.

I do find it amazing how Saban handles recruits like Young coming in with entitlement and finds a way to never have a let down.

There is clearly a very effective derecruitment process there.

Equal talent is the key. When you have a 5-star and a 2-star, the 5-star can coast and act like a prima-donna and still get playing time. When both players are 2-stars, if you coast or act like a prima-donna, then the other guy gets to play. In Saban's case, he has 4 and 5 stars. If a 5-star doesn't want to do it the Saban way, it's okay. Because there is another 5-star ready to take his place. So Saban doesn't have to cater to the stars. Because he has a roster full of them. At most schools, 5-stars aren't expendable, and the player knows it. At Alabama, they are expendable.

I agree this explains much of it, but USC, Ohio State, LSU, etc all recruit tons of 4 and 5 star guys as well but still have problems. There's more to it

Young could come in and play a lot for us but he'll go to Bama and redshirt. I wonder what the percentage of highly rated MS kids that sign with Bama is, that actually (a) play a lot and (b) make the NFL. It's pretty low.

Played in two games as a RFr and recorded no stats.
Has played in 8 games this season and recorded 1 tackle.

Scott Lashley; Redshirt Soph
Played in three games as as RFr.
Has played in 7 games this season and has 72 snaps at Right Tackle

Matt Womack; Redshirt Jr.
Played in 9 games as a RFr. in a reserve role
Started in 14 games as a RSo. at Right Tackle
Missed the first 4 games this season with an injury. Has regained his starting role at Right Tackle since coming back.

Raekwon Davis; Jr.
Played in 7 games as a true Freshman in a reserve role recording 4 tackles and 1 sack. The 1 sack was against MSU causing the QB to fumble.
Started in 14 games as a Soph. earning 1st team All-SEC. Recorded 69 total tackles, 10 TFL and 8.5 sacks
Started in 9 games as a Jr. recording 31 total tackles, 3.5 TFL and 0.5 sacks

Huge start to the 2020 class. 2 of the top 5 players in the state next year. Both WR a position we definitely need an upgrade at. Add Malik Heath to those 2 & that's 3 4*'WR in the class with 1 or 2 more WR spots left.
