Mississippi State hasn?t started SEC play 0-6 since losing its first seven in 1985-86 in Bob Boyd?s
last year at the helm.
The Rebels have won four straight against the Bulldogs overall, but haven?t won five straight since
winning eight in a row from 1980-1983.
MSU and UM are meeting for the 252nd time. It?s the oldest rivalry in the SEC.
The 141 wins for MSU are the most against any team the Bulldogs have played.
At the Hump, the Bulldogs have won 15 out of the last 17. Overall in this series, MSU has won 23
out of the last 35.
Mississippi State hasn?t lost back-to-back games to Ole Miss at Humphrey Coliseum since losing
four in a row from 1980-83.
Although the Bulldogs are winless in league play, four of their losses have been by six points or
less (combined 15 points, 3.0 average). All five losses have been by an average of 5.8 points.
Gavin Ware?s streak of consecutive games scoring in double-digits ended at 15 at Florida.
Against the Gators, junior guard I.J. Ready scored 20 points, marking the second time this season
he?s scored 20-plus points. He had 25 against Eastern Washington.
In just 16 games, Malik Newman has already drained 36 3-pointers. That?s currently the 7th most
by an MSU freshman, while his 97 attempts rank 8th. His 12.6 average, second highest on the
team, ranks 6th all-time by a freshman in school history.
Senior guard Fred Thomas is now just 35 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
Gavin Ware has a player efficiency ranking of 31.93, which is seventh best nationally and second
best in the SEC behind Ben Simmons of LSU (4th, 32.52).
12 ? Gavin Ware is 12th nationally in field goal percentage at .636 (112-176), tops in the SEC.
35 ? MSU is 35th nationally in free throw percentage at .737 (219-297), tops in the SEC.
72 ? I.J. Ready is 72th nationally with his 2.55 assist-turnover ratio.
