HOWEVER.....91, 92 and 94....we had good teams. They were very good. Those games were are all big games with a big game atmosphere. We played well but came up short in each game. I remember in 94 leaving Scott Field fighting mad because I had come to the harsh reality that we had given them our best shot and it wasnt good enough and it may never be. I went to the game in 96 convinced we would lose and lose bad. So did many other Bulldogs as empty seats were scattered all over the stadium. Rare for a Bama game..... I was just there to be there. Anyway, Keffer was hurt. (I forget our other RB) was hurt. We were down to 5'6" 150lbs RObert Issac at RB. We had lost a number of games already. We staring a losing season in the face. They were a top 10 team......we miraculously beat them. We got a couple of fluke plays on offense and Joe Lee Dunn's defense rose to the occassion, gave Freddie some fits and ensured a couple of TDs was all that was needed. We won. We beat Alabama for the first time in 15 years with a team that nobody gave a chance. I don't give us much a chance this year but Ill be watching and hoping..... Dak has a signature game....no picks in the redzone....no overthrows.....just a remarkable game. It will take that from Dak AND the OL but mainly the defense. The defense has to limit them to two scores. Otherwise......it is 91, 92, 94, 99, 12 and 14 all over again. Gosh I hate those bastards.
Probably not. They may look good for a couple of drives but Manny does a good job of generally stopping and/or taking away what you do best by half time. With rare exceptions our opponents' best offensive showing is usually the first quarter and it's generally all down hill from there. Their run game will look unstoppable for a drive or two and peter away. That is unless we're down and tired in the 4th. Once their run game is gone, what will they do? Throw INTs that's what. Defense will handle them well enough to win. What we have to do is not get handled by their defense, turn those 2nd and 3rd quarter INTs into points so they can't run the clock out in the 4th.
Note one of the intangibles is that this is the very example of a perfect trap game. They may still beat us, but there is no way they are going to play to the level they did in that huge game last week. Nobody does that. They didn't have a crap (really, I just mean not a contender) LSU team (2014) to play before us this year so we would get their best shot. Last year they played a near perfect game and they dang well better have!!! Otherwise we'd have gone 11-0 into the Egg Bowl.
