You are taught to do a quarter turn to get a four seam grip on a baseball. No matter how you pull it out, its always a quarter turn to get four seam. Sometimes you don't have time to do that and you have to just let it go.

What's this dude talking about "four seam throws from a catcher"? Never heard of such or known anyone that could do that consistently. You roll with whatever grip you come out of your glove with. If your front side isn't flying open on release, you aren't getting enough damn run on that ball to matter. Even a foot or two is nothing...
