I know 3-3-5 is designed for front three to jam up OL & our LB's to make the tackles, but most are in pursuit 6 to 8 yards down the field. Only ST are well coached and performing at a SEC level. Better be careful who we try to retain with NIL funds (covid players).
I suspect we're having issues with Arnett and Brock managing the defense to a degree. I think we're actually OK as far as the middle of the front seven- Pickering, Crumedy, Jett, and Bookie are solid players. But we lack anyone that can create havoc on the EDGE. I was always confused as to why that wasn't a priority in the offseason. Relying on Jordan Davis was always risky given his injury history. Basically we have a defense that is built to stop the run. Even then we're only average at that.
