Georgia Southern had been going to regionals at MSU that were hosted at Dudy Noble even though MSU didn't qualify. That's where MSU and Polk first met. A lot of fans and boosters wanted Polk to replace Gregory and I guess the administration got caught up on Bragan's MiLB credentials and the fact that he was a scout that helped identify players for the Big Red Machine. The administration eventually got it right after they realized that Bragan was a train wreck.
Polk didn't just get Ga Southern to Regionals - he got them to the CWS in '73.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""
