Other people apparently aren't as racist as you and/or don't hang around racists as much as you. I was aware of the trope but until this popped up, I don't think I had heard or thought about it this century. It's not exactly front of mind. And if Smith walked by and somebody said, "damn, look at those lips", I wouldn't have thought they were being racist. I would have looked and thought, damn, those are big lips.
