    2018-2019 Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

So far, it's shaping up to be a pretty challenging schedule. I'm glad we're deciding to schedule like a SEC team this upcoming year, because it's what kept us out of the tourney this past season.
Let's take a look at the currently scheduled opponents, and also some (unofficial) rumored opponents.

    Currently Scheduled
    •Cincinnati
    •@Dayton
    •Wright State (in Jackson)
    •BYU
    •Long Beach State
•Las Vegas Tournament (supposed to play Arizona State, and either NC State or Utah State)

Not Scheduled Yet, But Rumored Opponents
•Loyola-Chicago (Will be a neutral-site game if it happens)
•A sweet sixteen team (this rumor came directly from Howland in an interview. He didn't specify on the team, but sources have said it could possibly be Kansas State)

This will be a great schedule to prepare our team for the gauntlet that will be the SEC this upcoming year.

That would be a nasty schedule. And I like it. It will prepare the team for what should be an NCAA Tournament run.

In addition to that, this type of scheduling should be the new standard. Get rid of a couple home games and play neutral site instead. Better for the RPI and gets different areas of the fan base exposure to the games. Seek out teams that won a game or two in the tournament or play a couple good mid majors. Get into a non conference tournament with some good opponents. That's the way we need to do it from now on.

I agree. We have to move away from the SWAC teams. They are rpi killers.

St. Mary's finished with a Top 50 RPI this year. Arizona State Top 75. Getting both of those types of games on our schedule would be huge considering what we already have.

Losing those games @Ole Miss, @Vandy, and @Missouri is what kept us out of the tournament, but I agree on the scheduling.

Our record will probably be worse then last season going into SEC play but our RPI and SOS will be in better shape.

Love this schedule! Good job Howland. If we play KSU that's not the Big12/SEC challenge so do we know if we are included in it yet? We're about to have a huge jump in OOC SOS. Like a 300 plus jump.
